ya mine weren't hard to draw. it was impossible... like a straw in a dairy queen milkshake too hard to draw. I cut a slot bottom to top to allow air and I went a bit at a time and tested. I cut up to 1mm from the top. they worked fine on my 2 older batteries (1 of which died recently). I am going to buy another battery next order and didn't want to end up the same..

Totally agree with u brudder.

i've got over 10 long wick V3's brand new lying are:(
Damn...

Now those of us that like the shorty wicks are gonna have to go out and buy them all up
before they're gone...not my idea of a good time. Great for testing juices with the shorty wick.

At least the new ones offer plenty of extra wick material for rebuilding.
Hope they come apart okay for modding.
Would not like to break a brand new unused Stardust trying to get it apart
just to trim the wick.

Double thick short wick is the way to go. Not looonger! imo.

I'm going to resurrect a old thread...

I finally vaped through my first full stardust v3 (been to busy enjoying the phoenix bottom coils) and OMG these things are juice whores. Normally it takes me a day and a half to get through a full stardust and I vaped this thing dry in around an hour. Mind you, the flavour was better in these, but holy cow. Given the great flavour I get from a phoenix, and how little juice it uses compared to the sdv3, I just can't see myself using these new ones.

Anyone else notice the same?

Maybe its just this one stardust, or maybe its because I was using dekang apple, which tastes like a apple flavoured ash tray, and I just wanted it gone ASAP. :) I'll open another and try it with a jugheads juice that I know and see what happens.

Anyway, I do agree with you, the wicking is MUCH better. You still have to tilt a bit when its running low, but I think you touched on that earlier in the thread - long wicks still have to deal with gravity.

Yep. But multiple thinner wicks each individually have to deal with less weight, so while they each transport less juice, collectively they deliver more juice to the coil than a single thicker wick does. My experience with the long-wick Stardust was also that you had to tip far less frequently than any other CE2-based device I've found.

That said though I'm having some good luck with the Stardust 2 (the official v2, the new one with the replaceable heads), and even the so-called CE4 that Vapor Geek is carrying -- that one also has replaceable heads but holds 50% more juice. The latter I haven't even had for a full day yet, but it's very promising so far. I still have to tip more often with the latter, but it works well at least.

I've been curious about the Vapor Geek one. She has it listed as a Kanger product, which is interesting, and I like the larger capacity, but from the pic on her site it appears to have very short wicks. I'd love to hear your overall impressions compared to the SD. Love your videos btw.

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoy them. :)

The ones at Vapor Geek do have extremely stubby wicks, which did concern me at first, but once I examined the heads I realized that it takes a novel approach to giving the wicks a ready supply of juice. I'll be showing all of the details in the review I'll ultimately do for it, but -- and this may be a bit hard to picture -- underneath the wick there is a silicone seat that sits around the outside of central tube, and this seat has a kind of "moat" or channel around it with two cutouts for the wicks on either side and one cutout in the middle of one side to allow juice to enter. The channel functions as a well, keeping juice up top around the wick so that it has a steady supply of juice so long as you let liquid get up there periodically. It seems to work pretty well and gives the wicks a bit of extra juice at the ready instead of forcing you to constantly tip.

I'll have a better idea of how much I like this thing once I've had a few days to spend with it, but so far I'm pretty pleased with it.

love your tutorials. You should demand a practical knowledge fee from Vision and Smoktech as they probably go straight to your vids after new product release lol. Your cat reminds me of mine who will remain silent for weeks on end then suddenly emit a 100 decibel spinechilling meow.

Agreed, I check youtube daily for new stuff from Vaporchase and PBusardo, my go to people for informative and entertaining reviews.

As for comments on the CE4s, its sounds almost like a tidal pool idea trapping liquid until the wicks can do their job. I'm wondering if they are as much of a juice ..... as the SDs.

lol, thanks. :) I like to figure out how things work and then let everyone else know what I've learned. I think it helps give a more complete picture of how it works, why it works, and how well it works in practice.

Yup. That's my Tilly (the noisy one.) Placid one minute, trying to imitate the Ricola harker the next.

Thanks. :D That's pretty much what it does. The channel is narrow enough that the liquid won't just slip out when it's tipped down; the liquid pretty much sticks to the walls and gets drawn in through capillary action by the wick when needed. I haven't tried it with a thick juice but it probably works better than no well at all. It's worked well enough that I don't often have to think about tipping, just my normal usage and movement seems to be sufficient to keep the well, and thus the wick, topped up.

I haven't really noticed it being a juice ..... either. I seem to go through juice more or less at a normal pace with it -- maybe slightly faster because it gives a good warm vape even at low voltages, so I don't need to push it hard to get a satisfying vape out of it.

I'll have the video up in the next day or two.
