Been off and on since then. Longest stint is about a year. I subscribed to this board a billion years ago. Now I'm trying again. AGAIN, again. All my equipment is old and antiquated, (as am I), but at least I know how to use it. I'm Wendy. I'm 40. I've been smoking since I was 14. I've stopped sometimes for sometimes, but I'd like to stop forever. So, are there cookies, or … ?

I to started when I was 14 also, then started vaping in 2008. I didn't quit smoking totally till 2012 when I got a rda and got enough nicotine to pair up the the two packs per day of Reds i was a burning. Once I got the RDA it only took 3 days and I haven't bought a pack since. Yea I started DIY and mixed 36mg and quickly down to 18mg for a little while, and slowly worked down to 6mg where I stayed till this January. My New Years thing was to quit vaping. I just keep lowering my nicotine. This morning I mixed 1.5mg flavorless, I plan to give it up any day, it's just a crutch now. Like you I don't know if I'll stay quit, it's just a struggle, but don't give up. I'm pulling for ya!!!

Hi there Wendy,

Welcome back!

Compared to 2010, the hardware works much better now!
I was struggling with the e-cigs of old. I managed to quit, but it was too much of a hazzle, so i started smoking again.

Might want to take a look at some new hardware... something like the Aspire Nautilus tanks, or the Innokin Zenith/Zlide tanks for example. They work very reliably with a minimum of fuss compared to e-cigs of old.

And yes... there's cookie-flavored e-liquid, if you feel inclined:vapor:
I know that you can do it!

Hi Wenlamei. Welcome Back.

You can get to where You Want to be, but you have to Point the car in the Right Direction First.

As someone who Tried and Failed to quit Many Times, my Best Advise is to figure out what it is/was that leads up to smoking that 1st Cigarette when you have stopped. And then Doing things Differently this time.

You Need to make a plan Now for what happens when you are out on that Ledge and the Only Way Back seems to be to Smoke a Cigarette. Or when you Think you are doing good and that Voice say's that just having One Cigarette would be OK.

It can be Hard. Maybe the Hardest thing you will ever do. But You Can Do It. Your Need to Quit has to be Higher than your Desire to Smoke.

Hi Wendy,

I have a similar background. My first couple of tries at switching didn't work out, but the equipment had improved enough (for me) that my third attempt was the charm. That was in 2013, so your options are even better now. There's hope for you yet!

I'd really recommend upgrading, even though you're familiar with what you have got. I recall seeing a study a few years ago saying that the proportion of people able to switch was higher with more recent equipment.

Are you familiar with recent developments? There are three main styles of vaping at the moment:
  • Pod Mods - Low power, go through a tiny bit of juice, tend to use very high nicotine levels to compensate
  • MTL (mouth-to-lung) - The mid-range option
  • DL (direct lung) - High powered, uses a lot of low-nicotine juice
Nicotine levels can vary a lot, but the general idea is that each style can provide a similar amount of nicotine overall.

If you don't mind telling us what you're using now and what you like and don't like about it, we can probably suggest something that would suit you even better.

Good luck!

Hey Wendy, I bought my first vape in 2016. It's 2020 and things are waaay more advanced than in 2016. No idea when your vaping experience ended last time but I guarantee that it's gonna be a big jump for you. Great place down here, in 3 months I learned more than researching on my own in 3 years. If you write what your vintage gear is, I'm sure folks here will be able to give you advice o what to currently get to match your style.
I'm nearly 3 months off cigarettes ad holding strong :) Good luck and feel free to ask about anything. If it's about older stuff there's experienced folks here. If about something newer I'll be happy to research and help.
By the way- 40, antiquated? cmon

Nice to see you back, don't feel too bad about not stopping for ever. Might like to read:
