So my aunt and uncle are dual users with a vuze - basically an ego with a ce disposable clearomizer. I was thing about having them upgrade to an iStick with a nautilus, but I have some concerns.

The first version of the istick has some issues with the threads, anyone know much about this?

The bvc coils are great, but I've heard the last few batches have been pretty terrible with qc... Lots of duds.

Anyone have any thoughts on this or a better set up for a reasonable price for someone upgrading from ego? I don't think they have any resistance in rebuildables.. Otherwise I'd hook them up with a Reo or kayfun :)

I do not know what age your aunt and uncle are or how much they want to learn about vaping, but if it were me, I'd go with something simple and dependable like the mvp2. I enjoyed mine pre-reo and I'm glad I still have it if I need it for some reason. Just my 3¢ (inflation) The mvp V3.0 looks pretty darn good too.

I am sorry that no one has responded to this thread. Definitely not the norm for all the caring people that are here on ecf. Guess you are stuck with just me.

Thanks all the same :)
I know there's some good deals on the 20w, maybe I'll give that a go... Thinking about a late Christmas gift :)

They are in their 40s or 50s.... My mom was the oldest of the bunch by a decade.... And started having kids young.

High watt vaping is the flavor of the month. It's popular with a lot of people on the forums at the moment, but not a true reflection of the rest of the vaping world. Have they mentioned what they like and dislike about the devices they are using now? It seems more logical to determine what they want and find a device with those features.

That said, this one is worth looking at: Innokin iTaste VV4-M Express Kit 1000mAh, 15w, 0.8ohm (more details) https://www.misthub.com/product/innokin-itaste-vv-v4-0-express-kit/ (better price)

Regarding a Reo: you don't have to rebuild to use bottom-feeders. They work great with a regular atty. A Cisco HH.357 on a Reo is brilliant. And since you brought up the Reo, which suggests a higher budget, ProVape has a lot of ProVari Classics on sale right now. There's also quite a few in good condition in the classies.

I've never had any issues with my iStick 20w and I'm about the most ham-fisted person you'd ever meet. And as for a tank...I love my Nautilus Mini though I get every bit the vapor production and taste from my Kanger Genitank Mega. They're a bit more durable, have better airflow adjustments, are quite a bit cheaper and much better looking IMO. The money you save on the Gentianks over the Nautilus can be added to the iStick budget for the 30w version. Just a thought.

True I mentioned the Reo, was more in jest though. All good points.
Budget is pretty thin, probably around 50 or 60 USD so I figured I'd capitalize on the deals on the istick v1 if they were any good instead of springing for the v2

I have heard they fixed the thread on the new isticks. I love my naughty mini as for the heads i have read there have been a few probs, I havt been through that many coils on mine yet but no duds so far. I have the itaste Ocelot mentioned It works and looks great with the mini but i could do with a few more Mah personally but then i dont like putting it down at times.

I also got the replacement lattice tank. I like the look and it feals a little more protected than plain glass.

Good luck to you and what ever you decide on. . . their lucky to have you. I think it is so nice what you are doing for them.

Thanks. They are in a tight spot financially, so hopefully this will help them a bit (juice and gear is way cheaper than smoking at the moment... done right... especially if you don't have to buy the gear!!)

Thanks for the thoughts.
I know eleaf said they fixed some of the issues with the v1 with the v2, but again, I was looking at picking up a v1 when the v2 comes out and vendors start liquidating the v1 stock. I doubt the nautilus will get much cheaper in the next month, so I'll just have to keep an eye out for some deals.
Thanks for the thoughts on the BVC's I don't have any friends (off line friends i mean) that use Nautilus' still, so I've gotta rely on this online community for feed back on the quality. I know the BDC had some QC issues early on, that's what got my buddy to upgrade to RDA... You don't want to have to eat the charge for half a pack of duds for $2 each. Especially when 100ft of wire is $8 and cotton is so cheap...

Istick, IPV, or MPV, meh, the device doesn't matter. As long as its a Regulated mod, between 15 watt and 30 watt max output will be fine.
For the topper go with a clearo like the Aspire or Kanger stuff or and of the other sets with replaceable coil heads, maybe even a carto tank. DO NOT go with a rebuildable, ie Kayfun. Unless your aunt and uncle like coiling and wicking tiny coils.

Figured iStick because of its more appealing form factor - its not a big square box like the MVP, and I can probably pick one up for much cheaper than an iPV.

Was looking at the Nautilus because it gets great reviews - I have one, but rebuild mostly, so it just sits in the "unused vape gear" box. Probably PIF to them, but not if the newer coils have bad QC. Never dealt with cartos - I know a lot still swear by them - but I'd hesitate to recommend them because I have no experience with the technology.

Funny you should say that.... I thought about setting them up with a kayfun with 28ga built around 3/32 ID wicked with ready x wick at about 1.4ohms... with that RxW they can dry burn and rinse for several months, and not have to rebuild or anything... If something did go wrong with it though I wouldn't want them to have to go to the B&M to get it rebuilt with cotton every few days... Maybe if they had 6 or so kayfuns, but I'm not that rich :) My uncle could probably rebuild, but I don't want to introduce him to that - I only see them once a year or so, therefore i'm not very accessible for in person help if they need it. Additionally, Mod + RBA + RBA supplies for them isn't really in my budget at the moment.

Thanks for the thoughts!

Good call on the adapter.
I'll look at those Mow tanks, I haven't heard of those before.
I have the Mow Mega, it's 510 threaded and sits tall with the eGo adapter and thread cover.. the regular Mow is eGo threaded, same adjustable airflow - I got everything at sweet-vapes! the coil heads are universal with Kanger, makes it easy!

I also use the ego adapter on my istick 20 watt to protect the threads. I put the beauty ring on that came with my Nautilus, looks and works great IMHO. See pic in my signature.

On my wife's, since she runs the Nautilus mini, I just bought an eleaf bending adapter for hers. Either solution works fine, you do get a spring loaded 510 pin with the bending adapter.
