I didn't realize at first I could do a new threat in newbie forum, so this is a repost from tutorial thread:

Newbie here, can't do a thread, so here's my "proposal" for a starter supplies list; what do you think?

from e-smokeytreats (I'm in Oregon, want the quick shipping):
- mini electronic cig kit (DSE 901) - comes w/ 2 batts, 2 atomizers
- extra battery
- extra atomizer
- e-liquid: tobacco flavor, med strength (18 mg/mL)
- multiflavor/sampler cartridge pack (5)

for some reason, e-smokeytreats doesn't sell blank cartridges for the mini?? i am planning on re-using the expired cartridges from the kit/sampler to refill w/ the tobacco flavor e-juice. bad/good idea??

I want to try it for both me and my boyfriend; we both smoke a lot (I can burn 2+ packs/day, he burns 1+ pack/day). Once I get paid, I can buy another cig if necessary, but thought we could play w/ one for now to try it out, as long as we had extra parts. Advice/suggestions?

I read for HOURS/i.e., my whole weekend, to come up w/ this first purchase, I expect to have frustrations and disappointments w/ user error/device temperamentability (if that's a word!), but is this a good starter/intro supply list? It costs ~$101 US shipped free. we are hurting w/ $$, so, deal or no deal??? ;)

Thanks all ~~ Yup, the kit also comes w/ charger and a 5-cartridge (various strength) pack. E-juice is 15 mL.

Ya Happily, I wondered whether should start w/ manual or not?? I've heard they perform better, but maybe is too different (from regular smoking) to start with? I'm too indecisive!!!

Val, sounds like you got a steal.....I do want to keep quick shipping though....

Thanks everyone!

Your exact order from Ruyan Direct would be $72.50, including 30ml e-liquid bottle and EMS 7-10 day shipping. People on this forum say the packages arrive from China in a week. I got mine in 2 weeks with cheaper regular air mail. You will find many resellers order custom boxes, custom logos on atomizers, custom colors etc. than sell basically the same product for near double price. There is no such thing like "free shipping". You always pay for the shipping, included in the price of product or separately.

There is one US supplier that provides free shipping on all orders as well as has competitive pricing. (i.e. $11 for a manual DSE901 battery) I would definitely check out:

Don't go making threats on the forum right off. Wait a while.

;)

I tease.

Your kit sounds good, with the addition of a couple manual batteries, which you will come to prefer most surely.

Good luck getting you and the BF off the evil weed!

I think you have chosen wisely. You will want to try a range of juices to find your favourites - try a few different suppliers. It is probable, as others have said, that eventually you will want a manual battery device. If you like your 901, I'd advise getting spares attys and batts quickly, as it is possible to unlucky and have two pack up in short order.

I agree, very good store and really nice local prices. But again, "free shipping" is a marketing trick that always means "shipping included in the price". Somebody has to pay for the post service and this somebody is you. Rocky Mountain guys rely on volume, not on high price, which is good strategy. :thumb:

Hi all ~ thanks so much, I thought I was going to get another email alerting new responses, so a bit behind!

Thanks Lauraeleven re: ok to refill used prefilled cartridges till I get blanks.

Michelle ~ oh you wiseass, ya I saw the typo later; ha..... Are you threatening me???!!..... But seriously, thanks for info that manual batteries are available for the 910!! I didn't even KNOW that (even after my hours of grueling research) -- so went around in circles on 510 vs. 901 for NOTHING! I thought I had to decide manual (510) vs. auto (901) -- so now I do feel better about 901 choice for a beginner.

WV2win -- thanks much for the heads up on rockymountain; they do look good -- unfortunately they're out of stock on the 901 kits right now.....but i will order some manual batteries from them soon though. :)

Val ~ ya, I may give Ruyan a try later, but for now I want to get the first supplies quick.....of course, thanks to my damn bank, the check I deposited via ATM STILL hasn't shown up as being available, so here I am still toiling!! (Fricking banks. Criminals. This is a credit union, too!!! I mean come ON.) Later on when I'm less impatient, I will probabaly try some treats from there; most people on here seem to like them.

Re: juices to try, I definitely want to try ECOpure due to paranoia (I know, I know, cigs are worse, but still, why not get the best/most monitored?) -- is intellicig USA the only US supplier of those? And are their flavored ones (Rize juice I think is the name) still under same quality assurance/ISO plan??

I am excited to try this stuff!! So far this week, I keep thinking how great it would be to be able to sneak a few nic puffs at work so I'm really ...... off at $$ situation!! I really hope I don't get too frustrated w/ the tempermental parts, etc......am NOT mechanically inclined and that kind of thing drives me bonkers, which is why I wanted to be sure to have plenty of spare parts to begin.

Thanks everyone for weighing in and helping me take the plunge! I appreciate it a lot. :)
