Starting % For Hypnotic Mist

I got some,and want to try it. Whats a good starting percentage?

I use it at 9.5%. (Plus 0.5% of EM)

Don't remember what I started with.

I started at 10% which was OK, it has some strong jasmine notes so this may too much for some people.

Hypnotic Mist is a flavor supplied by FlavourArt and five or six e-cigarette suppliers here in the US. Not sure what "EM" is but I didn't want to seem like a newb.

The percentage is percentage by volume of flavor added to the total mix. I know that 15 drops is approximately 0.5ml which is 1/10 of 5ml, or 10%. You can also calculate the percentage by dividing your addition by the total volume, in this case 0.5 / 5 = 0.1 or 10%.

EM is shorthand for a 10% Ethyl Maltol solution. (TFA has it as Cotton Candy Flavor.). In the amount it is used in my last post it will smooth out the flavor. If it were a higher amount it would sweeten the mix.

I'm not sure the Newbie above knows that the post was in the DIY e-liquid sub-forum. If they did know, then, well...asking why stuff is mixed is pretty scary.

EM is Ethyl Maltol, a widely used flavoring which is moderately sweet and helps to smooth sharp tastes. It's available in crystal form or in a convenient liquid. Cotton Candy flavoring from Perfumer's Apprentice is 10% EM in a PG base and is the version I use.

To the eliquid base, which is generally a mixture of propylene glycol, aka PG and/or glycerin, aka VG, and usually (but not always) nicotine.

I'll have to try it again with some Ethyl Malto. Just by itself all I'm getting is a definite heavy jasmine scent with very slight fruity tones. I didn't really like it...

Like any high school chemistry teacher knows there is no harm in questions, the answers however could be disastrous.

I'm trying this again at 5% today and find it much less perfumy (yep, that is a word) and I can taste more of the subtle flavors Hoosier describes. Still going to try it with the EM and see how that is.

Also, am I to understand that you use Cotton Candy flavor as a balancer? From the posts in this thread I get confused. It seems like Cotton Candy and EM are one in the same, or used for the same reasons? Thanks again.

EM is also sold by The Flavoring Apprentice as Cotton Candy Flavor, so it can be one and the same.

A little will add body and smooth out sharp notes.

More than a little will add body and add sweetness.

A bunch will make the juice taste like cotton candy.

It's too handy not to have in your arsenal.

I mixed mine at 10 % it was yummy next time I'll try the EM added to it. Also I think I will make a 5ml test bottle and try my Vape wizzard and see what that does .
