Hey guys,
So I went to my local B&M to purchase a new RDA to my dismay they were out but the guy talked me into a steam turbine I have always been afraid of genny style atomizers because I don't want to play with mesh and leaking juice and that jazz. But he assured me that all builds would work great in it and a few guys there had them with dual cotton builds. But I have tried every build in my arsenal with every gauge wire at my disposal 32, 30, 28 I have tried dual coils, single coils, silica, cotton all that but I cannot get any sort of decent vape off this topper and you tube has yielded zip on this so do you guys have any suggestions? This thing was kinda pricey so I want it to work
Thanks in advance for reading

My kraken has had dual mesh, dual cotton micros and now a single micro with a u wick style cotton. Vapes pretty awesome I think at about 0.8 ohms if I remember correctly. I used twisted 30g for the build.

I have three Krakens and in various configurations and they all vape 50 times better than I was ever able to get the steam turbine performing. Its the only Atty that I could never get working right. Wish I could help but mine is sitting on a shelf as well. Trade it for a Kraken and you will be much happier. No modification required, it works great right out of the box. Two of mine are clones and they perform exactly the same as the original. You may want to grab a clone and try it before spending the big bucks.
Cheers

Thanks nxus12, he actually showed me the kraken but he talked up the ST like it was the best thing since sliced bread, don't get me wrong he was super helpful but I am having buyers regrets I don't know if I can even return it now since I have used it. Maybe in a few months I can buy the kraken clone. is there any modifications I could make to it? Im not chasing clouds just want a decent RBA to go with my host of other rebuildables I have.

I wouldn't make any modifications to it. Makes it harder to sell/trade. I would get rid of it in the sell/trade section. A lot of people love the ST and that's why I bought it. I couldn't get it vaping to my taste and after about 6 different builds I gave up. Also didn't mod it because I want to eventually trade it for something else. Right now I have enough toys to keep me busy :)

The ST was my first rebuildable, and it is still the thing that must not be named in my circle. I've built on Kayfuns, Tridents, Krakens, RSSTs, and a few more tanks/drippers. I greatly dislike the steam turbine, I dislike the size of the base, the screws, pretty much everything about it. Which is weird considering I love my Kayfun and it has a really small base to build on, suppose the method of building it is just easier. But I digress, it has been a really remorseful purchase for me. Not to deter fans of it to continue using it, but that tank system is simply not for me.

The Kraken, however, I can speak only in praises about! I love the quality, the build deck, the airflow adjustment... All of it is just so nice, and the tank looks great on whatever mod I put it on (as long as the mod has an adjustable center pin.).

Weeellll crapola...I am gonna try one more build in this thing to see if it works if not Ill just go to the B&M I bought it from and see if they can exchange it or help me get more than a wisp of vapor out of this darned contraption. Too bad though it is really beautifully machined and I like the protected glass tank. Oh well you win some you lose some I guess.

i too was having issues getting my turbine to vape nicely. then i got some cable and did a mesh sleeve. vapes wonderful now. and it drinks juice like crazy! 4 wrap of 28g kanthal

now my problem is the center post moves and doesnt make contact with the positive pin on my mod sometimes so i have to hammer it down to touch and it messes with my coils.

Thats an awsome mod you got there. I like that build but I lack the tools necessary to oxidize mesh and mesh is expensive so I have stayed away from it. I managed to get a u wick set up to work ok. Its got nothing on my R91 and my mechs are the only thing strong enough to push current through my 28g microcoils I have grown fond of. Its an ok vape now its about par with a kanger protank stock coil. At least its use able now.

are you running micros on the turbine? i found that the micros dont do to well on the turbine (imho) and just a regular wrap on the coil works better. all you need is a torch to oxidize the mesh. i went to the local 7-11 and just bought a little butane torch lighter and use that. yes mesh does get a bit pricey when compared to silica ekowool and others, but i think its a really clean vape and worth the extra money.

You can also pick up a Kraken clone, and just use the shield/top cap over the tank/deck of the ST. I have clones of both, and can take the exact same coils from my kraken, and they perform like crap in the ST. I do not like the non-adjustable AFC in the ST.

Of course, I cannot seem to oxidize mesh to save my life, so take my .02 for what it's worth. Love the Kraken with dual at .6-.8 and cotton wicks.

What would you consider "a decent vape"? I own several Bliss atomizers (essentially the same as the Steam Turbine, just not as fancy a cap and glass protector). They're absolute pains to set up and get rid of hotspots, but when I get them right (dual coils, 0.8 - 1.0 ohm total) the vape is outstanding, and I've never had a problem with wicking. What I've discovered about the Bliss (and I assume the same goes for the Steam Turbine) is that they were made for flavor, not vapor production. I was a little sad at the lack of vapor at first, but you just can't beat that kind of warm, flavorful vape.
