Hello,

As a newbie I'm trying to get a feel for DIY and much of my time is spent in anticipation of some next batch to taste, after it has steeped....

That steeping thing.. became a major concern..

It seems I'm starting to develop a general feeling or sixth sense about steeping requirements for different kinds of flavors, like:

Menthol flavors need little to no steeping, but lets give it a day to mix.
Fruit flavors 3-7 day's.
Caramel 4-7 days.
Cookie, Crusty, Pie, Dough, & some heavy Crème type flavors 7-10 day's.
Chocolate & tobacco flavors 1-4 weeks. (I heard some tobacco's even like 6 weeks)

Am I right with the above generalization ?

Another puzzling thought I have is about diluting a mix that was overflavored.. how much time would undiluted liquid need to pick up the flavor from an already steeped bottle of overflavored liquid.. would in this case an UC cleaner be sufficient to just mix it up well without time having any benefit on the taste since the original bottle already steeped ? I have a feeling that time is still a factor, but only up to about 1-3 days ? I don't think I can detect any change after 3 days of diluting a mix..

Any thoughts?
