Maybe this is what I need to do to the "holiday pack" I ordered from top vapor. they really have no flavor IMO. I was just about to toss them out.

I wouldn't toss them yet. Try steeping first, if it doesn't make a difference, still keep it around for a while longer. Taste buds do change, especially if you're a fairly new vapor. :)

Basically juices need to be shaken more than they need air. If a juice contains alcohol, then a day or two MAX caps off should evaporate any left over. Too much air can just as easily kill a juice. After exposing the juice to air, it's best to keep them closed and shake them once a day. Take the caps off every once in a while for a few minutes then put them back on. The key is to shake them frequently and store them in a cool spot away from direct sunlight. Just like anything of organic origin, heat and oxygen will do more harm than good in the long run. Treat it like wine (sort of). Some juices will change drastically for the better after a month or two! Be patient.

there are SOME hard fast rules....at least this is what i have been told

shake often, at least daily. this helps the different ingredients mix
if you wish to "rush" the flavors blending you can bag the bottles in a ziplock then bag that bag in another ziplock and soak in hot water for 30 mins at a time shaking after they finish soaking.

all i know thus far.

i will say that when you guys say steeping is not clearly defined you should look at it from the perspective of a wine maker. I'd bet they will tell you there are VERY specific methods to letting wines steep or age. Though i will bet it also varies greatly from maker to maker.

I hate tossing juices. I finish almost all my flavors. Sometimes I resort to mixing them or adding menthol crystals. A couple times I've mixed two or three bad juices, and then happily tossed the even worse result. That can be satisfying too lol. In fact, I have Pillow Dreams from VV that's very close to seeing the bottom of a trash can.

When I get an order of new juice I try it immediately, there is usually one, maybe two juices I like instantly. The rest go to the closet to steep. I also have a ritual of going to the closet at least once a day to recap and shake. Sometimes steeping doesn't help. Sometimes it makes an unvapable juice vapetastic. Case in point, my first bottle of juice was 30 mL of Dekang USA mix, first taste was horrid. Gave the bottle to a co-worker, and it sat in his tool box for 4 months. I took it back from him, and vaped the entire bottle in under a week.

I haven't had enough patience yet for steeping...until I picked up this bottle of RY4 that tastes like fried rice, LOL. Figure steeping can't possibly make it worse, so why not. :) When steeping small bottles, is it enough to take the cap off? Or are you talking about the squeeze-y tip on the top of the bottle as well?

Keep them - even if they're still flavorless after steeping, you can always use them to tone down something that's too strong.

i'm not one for leaving the cap off. to me it's releasing flavor molecules. some of those molecules i dont want to lose. shaking and leaving on a dark shelve works for me. the only exposure is when i smell it. some people in the DIY section have been experimenting with ultra-sonic jewelry cleaners. they allow putting the bottles in the uscleaner greatly speeds up steep time. it makes sense that the uscleaner would do a good job of joining the molecules. i havent tryed it yet because i havent had to. rule of thumb for me - if i get a bottle that doesnt have much smell, it doesnt need much steep time. those are the liquids i usually dont care for no matter what i do with them as far as steeping. on the other hand, my favorite liquids are full of flavor. they do require a few days to steep. i've also noticed those flavors will weakin if i've had the bottle open too often - usually when i'm down to the last of the bottle. good luck

As has been mentioned, taking the cap off is mainly for juices containing alcohol, so yes, removing the tip along with the cap will help with evaporation. I still do the cap off for 2 days for all bottles but am starting to leave the tip on if there's no alcohol in it. I'll probably end up just skipping that step when more solid info on steeping becomes available, but for now I don't mind doing it. Provides another excuse to play with my new juice bottles lol.
