Hi all

I purchased a bunch of Heathers Heavenly Vapes N.E.Ts and they arrived today. My brief search indicates that these need quite a long steep time. They are in the 30ml plastic squeeze bottles so I wonder how much air will get in with caps removed. They have bottling dates of 15th October.

Should I get some pliers and pull out the nozzle to facilitate air exchange?

Being a recent quitter of analogue cigs, I do want to retain the nico in the juices I have bought (12mg) so don't know how much I will lose from extended 'airing'

Any other recommendations on the topic will be greatly appreciated.

My apologies to the veterans here who are probably sick of questions like these.

Steeping science is basically non-existent in any real sense, but the anecdotal consensus from scientists who've been interviewed is still that the best final result comes from simply letting the bottles sit for weeks/months in the dark at room temperature, shaking every few days. For alcohol based flavors or similar notes, airing it out can help, but only for 12-24 hours, any longer than that apparently has no effect, or can reduce actual flavors in some cases. You can take the nozzle off during that 12-24 hour airing if you want, but I don't think it's necessary, there's plenty of gas exchange happening even with the nozzle.

Great, thanks for the info :)

tedigram pretty much summed it up.

You can speed up the steep by sealing the bottles in ziplock plastic bags and soaking in warm water for an hour or two every couple of days.

Also, HHV was one of my go to shops for a long time, and out of all the juice companies i have tried they were by far the best juice fresh out of the box. They got better over time, but i never had a HHV flavor that also wasn't great right out of the box.

Welcome mate, you don't need pliers, just a butter knife and fit it in between the nipple and base and pry it off let it sit in a drawer for 2-4 hours put it back on and shake. It's ok to try a little, I'm assuming you have a ego tank so maybe 1/4 full and try it, the idea is to have some ready while the others are sitting steeping. Heather's does get much better at about the 4th week ..........

Thanks mate :) I do have a stockpile of juice right now so speed is not critical, I used to cellar my pipe tobacco and was always happy to wait to get the best taste :thumb: I am not too familiar with ego tanks I thought ego was a brand or fitting ? I'm still a noob. My tanks are 2 Kabukis, a Kayfun V4 and Squape Rs :)

I find, from juice vendors, for the most part fruit flavors are almost good to go from the time I receive them. Custards and some other more complex flavors seem to benefit greatly from an extended steeping. With a manufacture date of 10/15 they already have a couple weeks in the bottle, so even custards should be good to go in a week or so.

You can also speed steep a juice by decanting it into a glass bottle and using the "crockpot" method:

Decant juice into a glass bottle.
Fill crock pot so that water sits flush with the neck of the bottle.
Set to "warm" (or lowest setting, being careful not to exceed ~165 degrees F)
Let sit for 2 hours.
Remove, let bottle cool with cap off.
Screw cap back on and insert for 2 more hours.
Remove, and let cool with cap off.

I've noticed that this method reduces the steep time by 2 weeks.

Disclaimer: None of the above is proven science, do it at your own risk. Also, heat has been known to degrade nicotine.
