There has been some debate on whether steeping times vary based on the material of the bottle. My question is, do you guys notice a difference?
I myself have, but it's not a good one. For instance, I decanted 5ml of Nicoticket's CLS and let it steep, while the remaining 15ml steeped in the glass bottle. 1.5 months later, the 5ml in the plastic bottle turned a dark gold, while the 15ml in the glass bottle remained a light gold (it darkened, just slighly). I understand that the amount of juice left to steep also has an effect on how the liquid steeps.
The problem is, the juice in the smaller bottle tastes nothing like custard, whereas the juice in the larger bottle tastes like a toned down custard. It might just be an issue with Nicoticket's CLS, but I can't be certain - I've never been able to get the juice to wow me.

How do you guys let your glass-packaged bottles steep?

I don't really think there is a difference, logically........ But i will say that juice or other drinking, liquids taste FRESHER and brighter from glass.

I steep the same regardless the container material.. Dark, cool shelf and weeks of forgetting the juice is there.

That's what I thought. In my experience, they either steep the same, or the glass-bottled juices taste cleaner. I think my issue stems from Nicoticket's vanilla base. I've tried 3 of their juices with that base (Strawnilla, ACB, and CLS). Those juices taste off, but their other juices are great.

Glass slows aging to almost a crawl. Theres a big thread about it somewhere here.

I had two identical bottles of Strawnilla 12mg, made 11/2014. One I decanted in a 50 ml plastic bottle (as I normally do) the day they arrived. The other I left in the glass but opened every now and then for air exchange.

Last month I decanted the second bottle of Strawnilla into another plastic bottle. It was almost as light brown colored as the day I put the 1st in plastic. While the first plastic bottle was a beautiful dark brown.

It definitely slows aging.

How was the flavor of the decanted bottle, relative to the glass bottle? All I really know is that my decanted CLS, ACB, and Strawnilla all taste funky. In fact, they all taste the same - sweet, with not much else going on, bar the ACB which has a tobacco undertone. Again, it might be that NT's vanilla base doesn't sit well with me.

So you don't move either bottle kept in the same spot together for1.5 months ?

Juice turning color hasmore to do with light exposure than wether plastic or glass. i mix to bottle of diy 1 dark bottle 1 clear. The juice in the clear bottle plastic or glass will be darker than the colored bottle.. Again regardless the material..

Taste on the other hand.... I don't notice any difference in E Juice.. Beer Yes, Coke, Pepsi, Water... yes, yes and yes. Glass, always tastes better, than any other drinking container material.

"Studies Say", plastic leaches into fluids. IDK, I Dont Really Care.. I use mostly plastic, because they are cheaper and have dropper tops.

Actually oxygen will change the color also, due to the nicotine getting oxidized. Try warming your bottles in warm water @150 degrees as that will help the steeping. I also use a ultrasonic cleaner with heat as that does the job for me. But this is for my DIY mixes as I do not buy premixed E juice.

Good Luck!!! :toast:

The flavor of the decanted bottle was more vanilla forward for me. Its possible it doesn't sit well with you. It doesn't for some people, I think it has to do with the steeping of real vanilla beans as apposed to vanilla flavoring. I happen to be a huge fan of it though!

Light exposure has nothing to do with it. Both bottles, glass and plastic, are kept in the same closed drawer where I keep all my juice bottles.

That is too warm IMO. Nic starts to degrade at 150.

Every juice maker I can find with "steep" instructions says "COOL, dark places".

So why the HEAT At All to start steeping? All I can see heat doing besides degrading Nic or changing flavors is to slightly thin the juice temporarily to make it easier to shake.

Avoid the risks, shake harder.

What do you mean? All bottles were left in a dark drawer, untouched for 1.5 months - I did drip them a few times, but that probably used about 3/4 of a ml.

I've actually done this before. It speeds up the process a tad, but either way, I still have to let them age for a week or 2.

That might be it. Like I said, it's not a terrible flavor...it just isn't all that pleasant.
