I live in Buffalo, NY so it obviously gets cold up here during the winter months. I prefer to keep my steeping bottles in the garage because we have 3 dogs and 2 cats and I don't want them knocked over. My question, is it too cold out there to be effective or does that not matter? My garage is not heated nor is it insulated so the temp in there stays around 40 degrees, give or take. It never gets below freezing in there though.

Somewhere out there
Damn, I hate getting conflicting answers. I guess I will just try it and see what happens. Otherwise, its going to be tough finding a place in the house that I would feel comfortable leaving bottles of juice open.

Thanks!

As I understand it, the only point in leaving bottles open is to let any alcohol or perfumy flavor evaporate off. I don't think they need to be left open for very long to accomplish that, maybe day.

I couldn't agree more. I would only leave a bottle open to evaporate off a strong alcohol or perfumy smell and then just generally overnight.

I think of steeping as being with the bottles closed to let the flavors blend together.

Heck, I live in Arizona and as dry as it is here, if I left bottles open for a week, I think I'd come back to empty bottles lol :D

Cheers,
Steve
