If steeping actually means steeping as a DIY mixer understands it, then I think Danny has it. Sounds like it is slightly overflavored. Since too much flavoring can taste like too little flavoring and it seems to be a confusing notion to many new mixers, some horse's rearend that goes by the name Hoosier on ECF wrote a blog about flavoring levels so he wouldn't have to keep repeating the same thing over and over on posts. If you find Hoosier, kick him hard.

If your "steeping" is actually what a DIY mixer calls Airing-Out or letting a mix Breathe, then all bets are off. It could be too much flavoring has evaporated or the nicotine is too oxidized and is covering the flavor...hard to tell.

I'll bet when Danny asked for detail, he was hoping for manufacturer of the flavoring along with the flavoring name. There's a bunch out there and each one is completely different than the others. You can get flavorings with the same name and one may work a 1.5% and the other works better at 15% and they'll taste different from each other too.

Hoosier has pretty much said all that needs to be said. Read his blogs and while your at it read mine too. There's lots of good info and helpful hints in those blogs. To the left you will find "Blog entries" under the picture of our ugly mugs. Followed by a number. Click on that number to go to our blogs.

I did the following & it seemed to lose flavor. 7% FA grapefruit, 5% CAP cran, 2% FW ginger ale & 1% FA lime tahiti. When fresh it's great, after a 10 day steep (lid on) the flavor seems to have faded. It was a 60/40 PG?VG blend

I've had the same thing happen with a couple other juices with anywhere from 12-16 % flavor.

8% blueberry 10% strawberry 8% sweet cream tasted great before steeping really dull now is it the VG doing that?

My guess is the cream is 'too much' - as creams tend to smother flavors. When we first started, we made several blends of fruits/creams/marshmallow/meringue...and they were all great on first mixing...and flat with major 'fruit loss' after a few days. After experimenting & learning, we learned 'too much cream/marshmallow' was definitely the problem.

'Don't know what vendor you're using, but if we were going to make that with TFA, our first try would be:

4-5% Strawberry Ripe
4-5% Blueberry Wild
2-3% Sweet Cream
.25% - .5% Raspberry Sweet

Can't say that I have experienced that problem but using tfa flavors I've never gone over 10% total and very strong flavored batches. I can however sympathize with a mix that refuses to be "right". I've got a key lime pie that is currently the bane of my existence. Ps a close second bane is the "auto correct" and my iPad refusing to learn vapeology terms! Good luck!

well i am using 80% Vg so with 100% nic VG so im pretty sure its that.... Is there a better flavor carrier than pg?

We don't use any PG - except what's in the flavors. If you want to make your flavors 'pop', try adding some .9% saline solution. Amazing stuff :) There's all kinds of great information throughout this thread, but the 'majority' of the posts on saline start at around #200 and go to almost the end. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/diy-e-liquid/268760-diy-master-techniques-flavor-add-ons-em-vw-bw-mts-acv-ect-5.html

These are absolute words of wisdom right here. I haven't gone above 20% flavoring yet and have had great luck with many different styles of juice. Just made a cherry triple tobacco at 18% flavoring and it's amazing. Like these guys are saying each flavoring mfg is so different. Some brands are far more potent than other brands and less is more.

I see you are at 26%, try 6% blueberry 8% strawberry 6% sweet cream.
