Many times, steeping instructions neglect the dripper bubble. After you put the drippers back on, a day or two into steeping, the dripper will form a bubble at the tip. This is due to the molecules marrying and also further alcohol evaporation. I've found that if you don't pop the bubble, it creates a strain on the liquid to further steep. It
will steep, but at a slower pace. I've also read reports of steep stagnation due to leaving the bubble at the tip.
The
bestway to take care of the bubble is with a needle. Another way is to just give the bottle a gentle squeeze to push the air out and burst it. This, however, leaves the remnants of the bubble on the dripper's outside surface. AKA: You have trace amounts of liquid leaked out.
I usually just use the squeeze method because the leaking effect isn't that big of a deal to me. The needle method is creates a situation where it's all still clean and pristine.
To each their own on that one.
But just remember to get rid of that bubble.
