I was curious because I tried the cherry balsam tobacco right away and it was a little harsh as was the carmel cappuccino. I was not used to the strong flavor hitting me like that so I figured these needed steeping. I have not had to steep any liquids before these too but have heard that high desert vapes juices require it. And I do not mean strong in a good way it was not what I was expecting

I think it's a trial and error process, unfortunately.

I've learned which juices need steeping, and which don't.

I think there are some pretty basic rules to steeping:

1) Store it in a cool, dark area.
2) Shake it vigorously any chance you can get.
3) Take off the caps and leave them exposed to air overnight (to evaporate alcohol). How many nights is up to you. There is no set in stone rule.
4) Look for color change.
5) Shake vigorously!
6) It's up to you at this point to decide if it's ready or not to vape.

(edit: holy crap, my numbers are off!!!! So much for posting on my days off.... Editing the list so the numbers are correct... /embarrassed)
In regards to rule 6, I have to suggest something I heard on here as advice: "Vape it. If you don't like it, let it steep some more. Then try again."

I steeped a batch of HHV tobaccos with the caps and drip nips off for 24 hrs then capped um back up gave them a good shake and left them in my medicine cabinet another 24 hrs. The following day I noticed a significant change in color (they got darker) and so I continued to leave them in there for the next 5 days shaking once a day before I finally opened them to use. I have another batch steeping right now as a matter of fact and its just about time to put the caps back on ;)

There's one problem when you remove the cap in steeping. You smell the juice and want to vape it right then and there. I have a hard time holding off. Little devil on my left shoulder saying, " Go ahead, just a little taste isn't going to hurt." And the angel on the right shoulder, " It's not ready yet, why not wait another day? You'll be glad you did." Batted the angel into next week several times. :)

I used to start with the caps off for two days, but on the advice of Ahlusion Wlad I'm trying a new stepping method with caps off for five minutes. Some people feel that more than a few minutes leads to too much oxidization. My first juices using this method of steeping are from the beginning of the year, so there are still a few weeks to see how they turn out.

I keep the cap off for 3 days as soon as I receive it while shaking the bottle once per day (obviously put the cap back on to shake). After the 3 days, I do a test vape to see if it needs steeping (subjective) to which I then let it sit with cap on for a full week while still shaking it once per day. So on the 10th day (3 days cap off, 7 additional days cap on), I do another test vape. If it's still not what I like, I'll leave it alone for another 2 weeks. If it's not good after 3 weeks, well, not sure what I'd do as so far everything has been good for me. But I have noticed that a sweet spot seems to be 2 to 3 weeks of steeping after the 'born on' date.
