So, I've noticed that a few people mention that they "steep" e-juice (sometimes) when it's not in use? Perhaps I've misread this?

Is there some special method of doing this? What exactly is "steeping" and why does one do it?

This is a total noob question, and so probably has an OBVIOUS answer. I'm sorry. But I keep finding references to it but no actual description of what it entails.

In most cases people are referring to letting their juices sit for a bit before actually vaping them, giving the flavors an opportunity to come together. You will notice with a lot of juices, especially those made to order, that the flavor will change a bit after several days to a week or so. Sometimes the color will even change. I personally do not submerge the bottles in water, or do anything like that, I just set them aside and come back to them after about a week (or if its a juice I am familar with, sometimes just a few days will do it). Others will put their bottles in water, but like I said, I don't do this myself, so I do not want to provide any instruction here, as it may not be completely accurate. I have found just letting them sit for a few days before using them does the trick though. If you happen to love a juice right out of the mailbox though, you probably don't need to worry about it to be honest. It may get better with age...but if you like it right away, there is no reason you shouldn't vape it at that point.

Hope this helps!

Just like a good soup/stew/chili gets better over time, so will SOME joose, the idea is (especially for more complex jooses) it takes time for the flavors to "come together/through" for the best taste. IF you get a joose that you just don't feel is "quite right " sit it in a dark cabinet and sit on it for a week to a month (or even more) re-visit it before getting rid of it. Often you'll find it's totally different (and hopefully much better) IMO it does work YMMV

I always taste mine right out of the box. Lots of juices don't really need steeping. If it tastes OMG! good, no reason to steep (IMHO). If it tastes pretty good, but not OMG! good, steeping might help it become OMG! good. If it tastes just awful, steeping probably won't make it any better (but no reason not to try). This is how I was told to do it:

Take off the top, squeeze the bottle gently (and carefully, don't want to squirt any out) a few times to get a little air into it, put your finger over the top and give it a good shaking. Now put it someplace dark for a few days (top off). Then try it again, rinse. repeat if necessary.

I have had a few juices that I thought were completely disgusting out of the mailbox...one being the oh so popular Boba's Bounty, tried it again 2 weeks later and fell in love. I have seen a lot of people say the same thing about that juice. So even if you hate a juice when you first try it, i wouldn't toss it just yet, it could change significantly. (I can think of about 4 or 5 juices this has happened with). I typically just set them aside and come back to it after 1 to 2 weeks. (Boba's I waited 2 weeks)

I find it works rather well. But when I get a juice I like right of the mail, I'm always thinking of how much better it will be . And when I get one I don't like I'm always hoping maybe I can at least stand it later. I had some bobas steep for a month. No difference than what I steeped for a couple weeks. But definitely noticeable from no steeping. Its good to shake the bottles and let the nic mix with the flavors and bond especially higher mg nicotine.

From what I’ve gathered from people over the past year or so is that it is a very personal thing. Some don’t believe in steeping at all and others swear by it. I think a lot also depends upon the flavor.

Light flavors such as watermelon or strawberry are unlikely to change much over time. Heavier flavors are more complex and more subject to change. It also makes a difference if they are exposed to air. It’s kind of like putting leftovers in the fridge. The longer they are exposed to air the worse off they become. Heat and sunlight also can have negative effects.

That’s the general consensus I’ve learned over time.
