Ok I am still confused with ohms, volts and watts relating to my e-cig. Currently I am using the eGo-C Twist which ranges from 3.3v-4.8v. I have the kanger evod with a 1.8 ohm coil. Now my question is were do watts come into this whole equation. When looking at upgrading to a new battery and it says vw/vv i am thrown off. I have looked at the charts with the voltage and resistance on it and maybe its cause im not a certified electrician lol but it throws me off. What exactally make a VV better than the rest? Please help explain this to me.

Everywhere you want to be

Higher wattage=more heat. If the ohms are steady, increase the voltage to get more wattage. If the volts are steady, reduce ohms to get more wattage.

Edit: if you have a VV/VW device, and adjust wattage, the device will automatically adjust the voltage based on the resistance it reads. You can NOT simultaneously adjust voltage AND wattage.

VV/VW means that you have the choice to set your PV using voltage or watts, just one, can't do both at the same time.
With VV you would need to change the setting, if you changed your coil and the ohms were different, to get the same vape from the different coil.
With VW You set the watts and the PV changes the voltage to keep that set wattage, even if you change coils to one with different ohms.

Variable Voltage and Variable Wattage are different roads to the same place. Having both means you have a lot of methods to narrow down how YOU like your vape. Some people say wattage is set it and forget it - basically if you had 2 different tanks and for an example one is 1.8 Ohms and one is 2.5 Ohms - on watts mode the battery automatically adjusts the amount of volts to ensure when you switch to the 2.5 ohm tank you are getting the same result by more power going to it. However, different juices are better at different power settings - so it is no better or worse per say. On a device that offers VV and VW you can operate in one mode OR the other.

All of that being said - many prefer mechanical mods and they control their vape by adjusting the resistance (ohms) of their coil builds in order to get a hotter or cooler vape. So really nothing is "better" overall. There is no one magical choice - it really is what is better TO YOU.

I hope that explained it simply - it really is rather confusing lol.

( To calculate the watts you are at - volts squared/ ohms. So 3.3 Volts and 1.8 ohms --- Volts Squared= 10.89/1.8 = 6.05 Watts )

ETA - apparently I took to long to type this LOL

Let's see if I can make it appear easier (I'm wayyyyy late it already happened. Look down below for the old man handin' out back pats!):

YOUR 'atomizer' - ANY 'atomizer' with a "coil" RESISTANCE of 1.8 OHMS ............ and YOU SET THAT PARTICULAR BATTERY:

VOLTAGE AT 3.3 ......... WATTAGE = 6 ........... AMPERAGE = 1.83
VOLTAGE AT 4.8 ......... WATTAGE = 12.8 ........ AMPERAGE = 2.67
"It's a law"...... actually TWO law's incorporated into one "OHM'S LAW and WATT'S LAW" ...... commonly called 'OHM'S LAW'. With any battery you can set ONE of the two - NOT both and it follows RESISTANCE --- THE COIL 1.8 OHMS ..... 2.0 OHMS .... and so on.

What makes one better than the other? I am NOT that 'up' on "MODS" - but I believe your battery allows setting ONLY the 'VOLTS' while some allow setting 'WATTS' AND 'VOLTS' (again EITHER VOLTS OR WATTS) and from what I recall reading here - the "WATTS" on some can be set in finer increments. VERY LIMITED knowledge on MY part - and you'll get many folks with more info. In ALL cases HOW HIGH on either depends on the BATTERY and how quickly it can supply either - HOW MUCH - HOW LONG - etc before it become unsafe.

Not a great deal of help - but perhaps a bit? I'm old and clarity from head to keyboard takes a lot of time and I need a nap before the Sooper Bowl comes on the moving picture tube.:):)

Senile Old Man Don

SEE......... while I was typin' JIMBODADDY and CREEPY LADY and BACC.VAP did it for ya! Sooner! Mo' betta! Ahhhh - I tried. Too dang slow mashin' keys.

Are there ANY MORE up there I missed? Jeezuz..... old people really should LOOK closer and mo' closely too!:D:D:oops::oops::oops::oops:

think of watts as a automatic and volts as a 5 speed. When you change your atty the pv will adjust if you have watts enalbed, if you are useing volts u will have to adjust it to the change in ohms in your different atty

just my 2 cents

I find an ohms law calculator useful if it wasn't already mentioned:

I still don't understand why mods with a power (Watts) control bother to have the voltage control too. I'd say that if you have one with watts you should just use that - start low and work your way up until it tastes the best or gives you the amount of vapor you're after.

Thinking as hard as I can I can only think of one reason that a Mod with Watts control may also have a Voltage control, and that's just to cater for the old timers who like to use volts. I think it's redundant though, and that if you have a Watt control you should just use that.

Like CreepyLady stated, both will get you where you want to be, and with a VV/VW you can only use one or the other. Watts has the advantage of adjusting the volts to keep the watts consistent. However set and forget may be a bit optimistic, again CreepyLady covered this, but different toppers and juices have their own sweet spot, and some of us change settings depending on mood or just whim. Watts will usually get you pretty close when switching, but you may find yourself making adjustments anyway.

It's your vape, use whatever makes you happy and adjust it to your taste, that is what is nice about a variable device.
