First and foremost give yourself a LOT if credit. Going from 40 to 10 analogs is awesome!

I'm very new to vaping but here's my suggestions:

Order some small bottles of several different flavors and kinds of flavors. Desserts, fruits etc. Maybe just pick stuff that sounds good to you to eat. Even if you think it won't be appealing to vape. Mt Baker Vapors is where a lot if people start but there are others too.

Choose a high enough nicotine level. I knew verrrry little when I made my first order and I got 3.6 nicotine. On one hand I think it helped me put my cigarettes down for good (29 year 1-2 pack a day habit) but on the other it's wayyy to strong now. I bought a bottle of 0 nicotine liquid to cut it with. Maybe try the next higher level of nicotine and see if that helps.

Don't let setbacks get you down. I know it's cheesy as hell but it's true, think about how many cigarettes you HAVENT smoked, not how many you have.

Finally, if you have a smartphone try a stop smoking app. There are a bunch of free ones that track how much money you've saved and how long you've quit etc. it's a nice little extra motivation when you need it.

I wish you the best if luck!

Congrats on dropping down. At first, I just covered my urges and I used 36mg to ensure getting what I needed. And, I was never without a APV close by. I got spare stuff for the car in-case something happened. I was not going to by another cig. If I had to, I would vape constantly first. A high nic level helped and I just took care of the urges.

For me, my tastebuds were messed up from smoking, so flavor didn't matter. Just covering the urges and having spare stuff for when I am away from home. Worked for me.

Congats on your accomplishment thus far. I kinda did the same at first. Smoked an analog here and there.. Then I found a setup that made me not even want to smoke. Well, the eliquid really. The setup was just a basic Vision Xjet BDC and a Vision Spinner. The juice is what really kept me off analogs. You'll find yours as well. It takes a lot of patience and experimenting. Good Luck!

OP, what nicotine concentration is in your e-liquid? If its not high enough for your needs, you will be dissatisfied and fail.

Are you using cigarette-size batteries, or eGo batteries? The gear you use is extremely important to your success.

Are you using the proper inhale technique? The nicotine in vapor is absorbed in the mouth, throat, and nasal passages; not so much in the lungs. Make certain that you get a mouthful of vapor and let it set there a second. (Imagine sucking on a straw in a milkshake. Use your cheek muscles.)

Exhale the vapor through your mouth and nose. More absorbtion of the nicotine. Plus, you "taste" more of the flavor. Your nose has more nerve endings to assist in taste than your tongue does. Try tasting some food with your nose blocked off and see if you can taste it...you can't.

Try some different flavors. There's more than a hundred different menthol flavors available; just trying a couple ain't gonna cut it. Don't limit yourself to just menthol either. If there's a local vape shop which has a juice sampling bar, then you're extremely lucky. Try them before you buy them. If not, many online e-liquid vendors offer sample packs to try a variety of flavors in small sample sizes so you aren't wasting money on larger bottles which you may or may not like.

Nice job on the progress you've made so far Nicky skinz. When I started vaping I thought I needed a tobacco flavored juice to try and help duplicate the taste of smoking a cigg. I tried half a dozen tobacco flavors and they all tasted nasty. I tried a fruit flavor and I was hooked. That flavor has helped me quit smoking. Like Bontasia said maybe you should branch out a little and and try different flavors and see if something pops out at you.

Baditude is right on the money with his suggestion to hold the vapor in your mouth and exhale through your nose. I was doing mouth to lung inhales at first like you would with a cigg. When I tried keeping the vapor in my mouth for a few secs and then slowly exhaling out my nose I was surprised at the amount of flavor I could taste. I still do lung inhales sometimes because I feels like smoking an analog, but mostly I do the mouth to nose method.

BTW, Now that you know you can taste with your nose, think about that next time you find yourself in an empty aisle in a super market and walk into a stagnant stinky cloud that some bastage just ripped and left hanging there. :D

It took me ten days of vaping and gradually cutting back to eventually zero cigs. One thing that helped me was to continue with the smoking rituals when vaping. What I mean is treat your vaping like you would have when you smoked, ie, go outside... etc. Also, keep a journal of how many cigs you smoke during the day and watch as that number decreases. For me, it's a pat on the back to look at.

I've started vaping about two months ago at that point I was smoking 2 packs of Newport 100s a day im now down to about a half a pack a day sometimes less. I dont really like menthol vapes tho so its hard to just give up on the smokes. any one have any suggestions on how they kicked this dirty habit

Hey Nicky!..Maybe the reason you don't like menthol vapes and still smoke is because you were like me, the vape didn't come close to tasting and feeling like your cig? I have found one if you want to message me, don't want be further accused of promoting a brand, or..you can just simply look up my old posts and see it mentioned. I'm not a cloud chaser, just a former smoker trying to copy what I had. Found it! Peace and good luck!

My unit: ego 900mah with mini evod 1.8ohm. Vape on!!!

I was a menthol smoker too who doesn't like the menthol flavors. I used mint flavors to help me quit. I haven't had a cigarette in almost 8 months! Good luck!

Try unflavored e-liquid if the flavors bother you. Or get into DIY.

I used to think I'd never like non-tobacco vapes but I found an ice tea flavor that has a nice light flavor and I vape that a lot. I'm not a candy or fruit fan, but the tea has a nice balanced flavor that is not heavy. So you have to really experiment with flavors.

You could be missing the other alkaloids in tobacco, and this might be why you can't ditch the last few cigarettes, and there are a few things you could try. This is particularly true if you smoke to relax or de-stress. Get a can of Skoal Snus or Camel Snus that's mint flavored and try replacing the analogs with that, then vape the rest of the time. They come in small pouches you put in your upper lip for an hour or two. Or get some Whote Tobacco Alkaloid e-liquid. WholeCig or Aroma Ejuice Manufacturer of WTA Whole Tobacco Alkaloid Eliquid

I couldn't stand the menthol ecig I had after a while either; but menthol isn't the only one out there; switch from the menthol.

I agree with checking your nic levels. I quit last year for 9 months with vaping and started with the tobacco flavours as well. All were nasty and none can really get close to tobacco as a combustible. Although I don't have a sweet tooth, I finally found peace with vaping by going to juices that were more fruity or sweet tasting in nature. I was a 2 PAD smoker. I relapsed after 9 months for a few and am not back to vaping. I started off using a 24mg and just a few days ago, stepped it down to 18mg during the day and 12mg at night before bed. Nic dreams are vivid and crazy if you over-do it like I did. lol I still have some 24mg for those stress days or when I feel like a stronger hit. As well, the eGo twists are a good start and I've heard that hey are way better than the cigalikes. In vaping, you do get what you pay for as far as devices go. I took a big step and just bought a provari mini and I'm a super happy camper and not vaping. :) Best of luck to you.

Congrats on slacking back! You are on the right path. I first started vaping around the end of June 2013, I then got serious about vaping around August 23rd, and then I smoked my last analog cigarette on October 20, 2013. So you are doing great! Smoking is a hard habit to kick. My boyfriend was very supportive when I was quiting, and he told me "You did not develop this habit over night, so you are not going to kick the habit over night".

I reccomend you get a high mg nicotine eliquid so that you are getting anough nicotine to satisfy you, and then also get some eliquid with 6mg nicotine so that you can chain vape. This method worked great for me. I was able to use the high mg nicotine eliquids to get enough nicotine, and then for when I just wanted to chain vape I used the 6mg nicotine eliquid. I promise you that you will enjoy having eliquids at different nicotine stregnths. It helps alot!

Keep up the good work, and if you need anything or have any questions or just anything at al feel free to PM me or anyone else here at ECF. There are alot of wonderful people here that will help you in any way that they can!

Hey, you've made a lot of progress!! Congratulate yourself!! And don't give up.

I kept track of every cig I smoked in the beginning, even before I found an ecig that really workied for me; and found the tracking was motivating. For me, though, keeping my old smoking routines was not helpful, because I found that the ecig experience is just not the same - partly because there is no beginning and end like with tobacco cigs. I really missed that at first.

I smoked for 47 years, always menthol, but find that I do not like the menthol or any minty type vape liquid at all!! A number of people find that they don't like what they thought they'd like in a vape flavor. I recommend trying some new flavors; and also making sure you have a high enough nic level and something beyond a "cigalike". Some people can quit using cigalikes but most cannot. It took an ego type to make it work for me.

Best of luck!! Quitting completely really is worth it, in many many ways!!

Hey! Congrats, that is still a huge decrease. You're much closer to your goal than you were two months ago. You want to make sure you are having the following things in-tact:
Correct amount of nicotine - keep in mind the bottle may say one thing, it may actually be another. Go with trusted brands!
Right flavor - if you don't LOVE the way it tastes, it's going to be a bit more difficult. There are so many brands and flavors, move around!
Right device - do you like your set up? Wish something was different? Buy what you enjoy picking up so you pick your device up instead of a cigarette.

I love and trust Hells Vapors! They have a Frost Bite that so many people mix with their Menthol or Menthol Tobacco to create the "perfect menthol". They have a chemist and biochemist on staff and the juice is made in a clean room and is tested for quality. They are the real deal! -> hellsvapors . com

For me is was what Darkdays 93 said, I first tried the ones you get at the convenience stores, but those didn't cut for me, harsh taste, not enough vapor etc. so I totally forgot about vaping until my daughter gave a protank II kit with an ego twist battery and 3 tobacco juices @ .18mg. Four days later I quit my 30 year vice of 30cigs a day. Three months after that I am obsessed with vaping yes, doing RBA's sub ohm etc. but down to 0 to 6 mg and feeling much better. I hope my experience can somewhat help you in your quest, good luck

First, let me say a big congrats to you!! I know it doesn't feel like it but you're doing awesome! I was a Newport smoker myself & now I don't want anything menthol ever again! I agree with the recommendations to up your nic level. I started with 18 but I had to get some 24mg to really get through the urges once I refused to buy another pack. While it's true that no flavor will ever taste like the real thing I used a flavor called Newpark menthol from Vapesales.com to get off of the cigs. Venture out & try some other flavors. You're not limited anymore! You just have to try different things to see what you like. Hang in there & don't beat yourself up! Remember it's all about the cigs you don't smoke...not the ones you do.
