I've looked in the search field and could not find a answer to the question I have. If this is a repeat i apologize and would appreciate being pointed in the right direction. My question is, can I use a bar magnet to remagnatize the magnets in the switch? My dad had some black build up on his magnets and used a pocket knife to scratch it off and I think he demagnatized them some and just wondering if you can remagnatize them or if you just have to buy new ones. Thanks for any help.

Those are permanent magnets. You would really have to work to mess one up. I can tell were you can get a new one if you need it. IF the magnets appose each other they should be good. In that mod dirt on the magnet is not a big deal as it is not the contact it's recessed. On the off chance it's bad here is where you can get a new magnet or an upgrade kit.
