So I am new to building coils. I rebuilt the stock coil at 1.2 ohms it doesn't look the greatest. I use organic cotton to wick i tried running a lighter over the kanthal wire (26 gauge) I heard they sometimes have a coating. I feel like I have my ins and outs right, the out wire under the rubber gourmet doesn't seem completely flush in the slot in the coil. I vape 12-13 watts with 70 VG. My second build tasted ok for a while then it got that weird muted flavor. I use my battery to heat up the wire and it glows evenly red. Am I missing something? Help please, thanks.

I'm new to building as well, but I had a friend who's more experienced helping me and he said the organic cotton sometimes will have a weird, "muted
type of taste at first but it goes away after a while. I did notice that about my first half tank but it's gone away since. We built a .7 sub ohm.

Thanks so it sounds like I just have to keep vaping.

What type of lighter? Your average bic will be depositing all sorts of crap on your coil. Also the stock coils use non-resistance wire for the leads so at the same 1.2 ohm you're getting a lot less surface area of resistance wire at the wick which would mean less flavor due to less vapor...
