Don't throw your batteries on the charger if you're not gonna let 'em charge all the way. Each charge cycle is important, and it affects your battery's overall life.

With the rDNA though, you have USB charging, and a chip that is looking at your battery's voltage/temp, so I'd say USB charging only to halfway should be fine.

Someone with more experience will probably chime in with a lengthy explanation.

I'm not sure how the chip will affect things like nyiddle said though it might make a difference. But I do know from my experience in the RC hobby that a rechargeable put on a charger without being fully discharged will cause the battery to lose some of it's ability to hold a charge, lower the amount of charge it will accept, and shorten the lifespan of the battery. We even used to wire up a simulated load to completely drain the batteries. It has to do with something we called battery "memory". I don't do that last step (simulated load) with ecig or mod batteries, but I do treat then the same way in every other respect. I may be wrong but I would rather err on the safe side and think I was extending my vape battery life than shorten it. I hope this is of use. Peace and God bless.

ive read quite the opposite on battery university's website. in fact, they say a partial charge is better.

"Simple Guidelines for Charging Lithium-based Batteries

A portable device should be turned off while charging. This allows the battery to reach the threshold voltage unhindered and reflects the correct saturation current responsible to terminate the charge. A parasitic load confuses the charger.

Charge at a moderate temperature. Do not charge below freezing.

Lithium-ion does not need to be fully charged; a partial charge is better.

Chargers use different methods for “ready” indication. The light signal may not always indicate a full charge.

Discontinue using charger and/or battery if the battery gets excessively warm.

Before prolonged storage, apply some charge to bring the pack to about half charge.

Over-discharged batteries can be “boosted” to life again. Discard pack if the voltage does not rise to a normal level within a minute while on boost. "

EDIT: lol... guess Kemosabe and I were mind melding.

Everything you ever wanted to know about charging your batteries:

Charging Lithium-Ion Batteries

Li-ion does not need to be fully charged, as is the case with lead acid, nor is it desirable to do so. In fact, it is better not to fully charge, because high voltages stresses the battery. Choosing a lower voltage threshold, or eliminating the saturation charge altogether, prolongs battery life but this reduces the runtime. Since the consumer market promotes maximum runtime, these chargers go for maximum capacity rather than extended service life.

Simple Guidelines for Charging Lithium-based Batteries

Posted at the same time too. That's almost spooky, LOL.

I agree with you guys. Everything I've ever read indicates to me that never completely discharging them and never completely charging them leads to more total run time through a battery's life.

Of course, I've never actually done the experiment
