Getting ready to try my hand make juice and am wondering about flavorings in general. I know there are several suppliers online (TFA, Bicks, Lorann, etc.) and that's great. But what about flavorings that one can buy locally, like baking flavors from Wilton or McCormicks...there must be bazillions of choices in the local grocery, WM, specialty shops, etc. Can one use these flavorings? If so, what about the "other" ingrediants like alcohols? Very curious about this and looking forward to your suggestions.

I was really wondering that myself... we have LOTS of those in the pantry.

Most all standard brands of cooking flavoring such as McComicks are to diluted with alcohol. Wal Mart sells LorAnns and so does Hobby Lobby according to post I have read.

Wizard Labs sells 8ml bottles of TFA and LR for $1.49 each and these are extremly popular and there are Threads on these bramds here.

I looked at Walmart and couldn't find the LorAnne's anywhere...? I was looking in the flavorings area... wrong area...? LOL

You'll likely find them in the area where you find cake decorating stuffs. However, as those before me have said, be aware of what's in the flavoring you're purchasing. Many of the LorAnn flavorings I saw at Walmart were Oil-based, which equals no good for the lungs.

With the other stuff, generally found in the food section, you just have to read the ingredients. Some are alcohol based, some are PG-based. Some have food coloring (which many here avoid), and some contain other questionable ingredients. It's always best to research all of the ingredients before utilizing said flavoring (take a picture of the ingredient list with your phone, and do the research, etc.)

I know for a fact that people have used store bought flavorings successfully with no repercussions. Watkins Cherry flavoring comes to mind. Just be mindful of what you're purchasing, and you should be okay.
