Hi all,

Been reading for over a year, but this is my first post.

I'm not that new to manual mods, and I read all I can about battery safety, but I had a really strange thing happen and I'm looking for some feedback/advice.

I threw a nautilus tank on a manual mod yesterday to see if it would be too weak or not, and after holding the button down for 2-3 seconds, I noticed that the mod INSTANTLY got super hot. I immediately unscrewed it and took the battery out which was also super hot.

What the heck...? Any Ideas...?

The nautilus had a 1.8ohm coil, the mod was a copper four-nine clone (by infinite), and the battery was a Sony VTC50 (fully charged).

The same mod and battery has been working great with RDA's for the past month or so since I got it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

yep. sounds like a short somewhere in the 510 connection between the nautilus and the top cap of the four nine clone. check to make sure that the pin at the bottom of the nautilus, and only the pin itself, makes a solid connection with the battery (the four nine has a hybrid top cap right?). Oh and you did the right thing by immediately taking the battery out. If the battery continues to short it can vent, and that is very dangerous.

4nine is hybrid top cap.
Make sure only the positive pin touches the top of the battery. If the sides (threaded part) touches the battery that is a hard short.
Looking at the 510 on the atty, the positive post should stick out father then the negative part (threaded).
