String inside battery ? Should it be removed

I just got a box mod that takes a battery and when I was putting the battery in there's a black string type thing( looks like the ones they have on toys that you have to remove before the toy can work) I haven't removed it but I was wondering why it's there and if it can be removed

If it's a black ribbon, it is probably there to aid in removing battery/s from the mod.

The battery is a ipv d3 80watt.

I'm sorry, didn't read your post well enuf. The string is over the contacts inside the mod?

Is the string (or thing) going around the battery inside the mod, or is it located at the battery connectors?

If it looks like ribbon it is there to help you remove the batteries. They are hard to get out without it.

Yeap, leave it there, lay it across the battery sled then put your batteries in, when you take them out to charge just pull the ribbon to help them pop out..
