Hi, I am trying to get a nice strong peppermint recipe going.
At the moment I have Capella cool mint and peppermint concentrates and DV peppermint.
I have mixed:
50/50pg/vg cool mint 7%
50/50pg/vg cap peppermint 10%
50/50pg/vg DV peppermint 10%

They have been steeping for about 4/5 days and I have had a little test tonight.
The Capella cool mint and peppermint smell a little chemically to me and little taste has developed thus far.
The DV peppermint has a slight smell of mint but very little taste has developed.

Should I have gone for a higher % of the concentrate in the mix?
Whats with the chemical like smell? Anyone else get that? All the equipment I used was sterilised and dried prior to use and the pg/vg is the same as I have always used with no problems.

Any ideas?

I think mints are the strongest flavors from any maker... I normally use 15-20% of any other flavor, but I tried a TFA mint (spearmint maybe?) at 5% and it is way too strong - might be okay at 2%. You may have over-flavored. Try 1 or 2%, maybe add a little sweetener or some vanilla, and see if that helps.

-I'm thinking over-flavoring as well. I make a "sinus clearing" mega mint/menthol juice. Here are my percentages:

TFA menthol 3%
TFA wintergreen 3%
TFA clove 3%
TFA horehound 3%
TFA koolada 3%
EM 1%

The rest is just VG & nicotine base. No chemical taste whatsoever, no steeping needed and it is way over the top as far as cooling effect. Love this stuff.

smurfdude- try lowering your percentages and see if it helps! :)

Are you old enough to remember Vick's Vapor rub? LOL. I'm writing down your recipe - it might come in handy this winter.
