I don't have a problem with e-Go sized batteries and tanks, but I wanted something smaller, too.
My first attempt was with a Blu kit, and I really liked the PCC concept and the form-factor of their ecig. Unfortunately, their cartridges sucked, and their automatic batteries are problematic in practice (firing at weird times and running themselves out).
When I took my second attempt at quitting smoking, I started with eGo-sized devices and quality juices and have had
much better success. Knowing a little more about what is out there, this go-round, I decided to try to find a better cigarette-sized kit for times when I'd prefer something smaller.
I started by getting some Boge blank cartomizers and filling them with the e-juice I liked in my bigger tanks. Just taking a cartridge with some decent juice and screwing it on to one of my old Blu batteries was a huge improvement over Blu's standard offering. So, I started looking for a new battery kit.
I knew I wanted 510-style, so I could use the cartomizers on my existing batteries. I wanted standard 510 polarity (vs. Blu's reverse) so I didn't have to worry about incompatible chargers. And, I wanted a manual button for operation. I ended up order a kit from Volcano, al-a-carte by picking individual pieces from their catalog. I got a PCC, a handful of batteries, and a charger kit. Running the refillable cartomizers, it's actually been a capable stand-in for the bigger tanks and batteries.
Then, by accident, I think I found the perfect 510 battery at a local shop. It is made by a company called Buck Naked. Their website claims to be the "world's top selling ecig company", though it seems no one has heard of them, so I'm not sure how valid that claim is. Their product line is kinda mediocre, and overpriced. Everything they offer, I've found for half price or less from another company. But their 510 battery is unique, as far as I can tell. They claim it is 180 mAh, and is a little longer than comparable 180 manual batteries, but it has a 3-click on/off lock feature. I really dig that, when I want to go minimalist, I can screw filled cartomizers onto a couple of them, 3-click lock them, and throw them in my pocket with my keys/wallet/whatever, and they're ready to go whenever I fish them out of my pocket. The batteries are $17 each, which is high for a 510, but they really are nice. They have a soft-rubber finish, the mirrored end has a hidden LED color-matched to the body of the battery, and the on/off lock feature is great.
