Hi!

I started vaping on Monday and stopped smoking cigarettes then too... I was doing ok and then today I started using my own vape (it's a cool fire IV 4 if that helps) and smoked one (well half) a cigarette today 3 days after making the switch :( I hated it and could only smoke half before switching back to my vape...

My problem is my device doesn't taste right even with the same liquid as the one I was using before (my sisters) it tastes too much like air and I have changed the coil and have played around with the watts and the other one (valt I think)

Now I am scared I am going to smoke ciggies again as I have been thinking about it this evening (but have resisted) Sorry if I posted in the wrong area!

Hi and welcome. First off, don't beat yourself up if you smoke a cigarette. For many of us here the transition wasn't instant. Sometimes ejuice will taste different depending on the tank, coil, watts and all that stuff. If it's not tasting right to you perhaps trying it with a different tank? Not sure what your using now, but if it tasted good with your sisters setup then perhaps getting the same tank that she has? You can try and adjust the air flow if you think it's tasting to much like "air". Hang in there. :)

Well those both appear to be direct lung devices, the Coolfire certainly is, what it sounds like you're looking for though is maybe more of a mouth to lung style with some throat hit like a cigarette, is that accurate?

Sub-ohm is usually a lot airier and you take it direct to lung to produce lots of vapor but usually isn't huge on the throat hit which you might be looking for.

There's also a lot of crap in cigarettes that you're going to miss for the first week that you kind of just have to power through, the vapor and nicotine will help make it easier but it still takes willpower to get through the first week or two. Once you get your sense of taste and smell back after a couple weeks it will be a lot easier too and you'll be able to enjoy the flavor a lot more.

What level of nicotine are you using in there also?

Hi PVape. Welcome to the ECF.

First of all, you are Doing Great. The 1st week can be Rough. But you can Make It.

I'm not sure what device you are using? But if you like your Sister's Set-Up, why don't you get Exactly what She is using. And when you get it, go over to your Sister's house and have Her give you the In's-n-Outs of it.

Welcome PVape!! You are doing great! Don't worry about cutting out analog cigarettes before you get your gear, nicotine percentage and vaping style sorted out! I agree with everyone here that if you like your sister's vape gear, get yourself the same tank she has. The Cool Fire 4 is less likely to be the problem, than is the tank, coil and vaping style, so I'd first try your sister's tank on your Cool Fire.

Is your sister's tank for mouth to lung or sub ohm vaping? One way you can determine that is by looking at the ohms rating of the coil. Generally speaking, any ohms above 1.0 is for mouth to lung vaping and any ohms below 1.0 is for sub-ohm vaping.

Even once you get your gear, nic ratio and vaping style figured out, don't worry about it if it takes a while to leave the analog cigs behind permanently. Sometimes it takes a while. I kept smoking a few analogs a day until I realized I much preferred to vape and really had no appetite for smoking analogs anymore. Most people don't have to white knuckle it or suffer to make a permanent, successful switch.

Please come back and let us know if this approach works for you and if you have any other questions.

Good luck!!

I see your tank and Cool Fire, but I can't tell what type of tank you have. Can you look at the box it came in? Can you look at the coils for it so you can determine the ohms of the coil?

Be aware that your sense of taste and smell will change, especially if you were more than a casual smoker. I was a heavy chain smoker for 40 years and after 1-2 months many liquids I liked in the beginning began to taste awful. Not sure that would happen in the first week but you never know.

My opinion is that you need a more restricted airflow. If your tank allows(looks like adjustable airflow on the bottom), turn it down and get a more narrow drip tip instead of the tailpipe you're dealing with now.

May be there is too much flavor. May be you need a flavor that's mild and laid back.

Vaping is not about "quitting", it's about control. If you vape you'll smoke less. If you don't stop vaping you'll eventually stop smoking. It took me 6 weeks of dual using. A brother of miine took 10 months. Once you've vaped long enough without smoking cigarettes taste terrible. I've smoked a couple in the past 20 months to see what would happen. It's wasn't pleasant and I didn't want another. Instead of quitting you'll lose interest. That's the goal.

Be patient. There are things to get used to, things to learn, and some rollercoaster riding to get through it. Just keep vaping.

Two thoughts, one is that the tank you just started using wasn't very clean from the factory, dump the juice and clean the crap out of it with some dish soap and a toothbrush.
Second is vape tongue. I actually woke up this morning wondering wtf happened to my ADV since last night. Left the mod at home, vaped fruits all day and when I got home my RY4 adv tasted as good as ever.

Thanks so much guys for all your help, I think I'm gonna grab my sisters device because I really seem to like hers more than mine (whether it's the tank or whatever) it tastes stronger to me, they are both for mouth to lung I believe, the coil for mine is 0.5ohm (20-35W) I'm just gonna smoke if I really want a cigarette but carry on vaping until I want to vape over smoke... I will take a look at those other threads thanks !

You are vaping with advanced equipment (Sub ohm). Could keep your gear lay it aside) and read my recommendations posted above.

Sounds like a Good Plan.

It sounded like you Liked your Sister's Set-Up. I would Duplicate it Exactly and use it to get past the 1st Two Week or so.

Because after that, the Cravings for Cigarettes will have gone down Tremendously. And things will be Much Better.

:)
