Stuck buttons and fried Riva and VV batteries--4 in 8 months?? Is it just me?

I have been vaping for about 8 months now. In that time I have gone through 4 batteries. Is this normal?

I got a Riva kit with 2 batteries. The first one stopped working almost immediately for no apparent reason. I have since learned that that problem may have been easily resolved, but disposed of the battery before learning about this site. That was #1.

#2 was also a Riva, it seemed to be not giving off the voltage it had at the beginning and I figured maybe 6 months was all you get out of them. Shortly thereafter the rubber button got stuck inside and that was the end of it.

#3 was again, a Riva. Within days of having it, it got stuck on and got super hot and within the time I realized it was stuck on and unscrewed the atomizer it had actually melted the end of the plastic cart I had in there. Someone suggested that maybe the Atomizer had started giving off lower (or higher?) ohms and fried the battery.

#4 and #5 are Riva style VariVolt. I love them. When I got them the buttons were a little loose, which I figured was just because they're metal and not rubber like my other batteries were. Its been 2 or 3 weeks. All of a sudden the one button started feeling tighter and then sticking. I looked around and watched some videos and tried wiggling the middle piece thinking it had done something to the button and I also tried wiggling the button out. It is stuck on the highest volt (the button is so tight I cant push it enough times to bring it back down) and I have to use my thumbnail to get it off. So I am (AGAIN) down to one battery and would really love to not have to keep buying these with such frequency.

Has anyone else had this experience? Could it be my charger? Could my evening chain vape have something to do with it? Please help!

Many have experienced and reported similar problems but it's a bit unusual for someone to report them all :) Looks like bad luck or it may be the powervaping is heating up the switch to cause a problem - since the sticky button is 4 out of 5 - I'd try having a couple pvs going to split up the load and not hang on the button. Back when people were switching over from auto to manual - one of the things was that you can release the button when you're finishing the inhale - that's a habit that gets developed...

And the early Rivas had problems with LR attys. I've lost a few Rivas over a year and a half where I had some good months use of them but they'd blow right off the charger. I got into the habit of pressing the button before adding the atty. Don't know if that helped but haven't lost one that way since. Hope that helps and perhaps the bump up will get some others replying...

Hippie just told my story, I too have gone through batteries at an amazing rate and did it the same way. Holding the button before putting on the atty? Do you mean just holding it down while you screw the atty on? I'll try anything, I too am down to my last battery and would really like to not kill this one.

Coming off the charger you have @ a 4.2volt peak which in normal vaping would rapidly go to 3.7v and then stay in a range of 3.2-3.7v until you're almost out of charge. Just pressing the button without an atty, still activates the battery. Scottbee mentions losing a few Rivas on LR's in the 'battery surprise' thread in the 510 model forum - not sure if it's the same thing though.

i have a riva for about 9 months and havent had a problem with it and all i use are lr attys and i clean my atty 4 or 5 times a day with stuff called atty flush its a mixture or grain alchol and pg and i also hold the buttom for a sec when i take all my batts off the charger and i am on the same 2 batts and attys i got with the kit.I also feel when the atty heats up and let it cool down befor i start vaping again...
