I live an a fairly small town and I flew out this afternoon to do some work down in Palm Springs. When I got to the security check-point I threw my eGo in the tray and a plastic baggie with a bottle of juice with 5 stainless steel Resurrector cartos in it. The baggie made it through without issue but the agent pulled the eGo out. She handed it to one person who handed it to another. There was much discussion after which it was handed to yet another person. This person looked it over for awhile seeming perplexed, turning it over in her hand, shining her flashlight on it, looking down the mouth piece. I finally had to go over and explain what a "personal vaporizer" was and had her take it apart and explained how the parts worked. After dabbing it with a pad and inspecting it with some bomb detection machine I finally got it back.
The agent said, "We have never seen one of these before. We couldn't figure out what it was. We thought it might be a laser pointing device."
It was kind of fun watching them scratch their heads trying to figure out if was some instrument of mass destruction.
