Travel and Vaping The TSA and my Silver Bullet

I am currently on vacation in Hawaii.
Flying here, my vape gear didn't cause any problems with security.
Yesterday we took a small jet to the big island and I had issues.

I had my Silver Bullet with me along with a Vivi Nova tank. I didn't have a battery case with me, so it was loaded. My tank was in a ziplock.
I wasn't surprised when my stuff was set aside for hand inspection. Then the TSA agent is looking puzzled at my Silver Bullet.
I explain to her that it is an ecigarrette and that the Vivi Nova is the top piece. She say she hasn't seen one like that.
Then she wipes it with something and feeds that into her machine. A red bar lights up that says EXPLOSIVE.

They all stayed calm, but I'm thinking "Oh Great!" as I watch 3 of them putting on latex gloves.
Any while I am getting a full body search, the others retest and scan my AVP. It tested clean.
Then I get sent along a little shaken, but otherwise unscathed.

I wonder if maybe Noalox from the threads could have caused the false positive?

Coming back to Oahu, I explain to the TSA agent what had happened @ HNL and he was familiar with my setup. They barely even slowed me down....

just had same experience as OP at MSP airport this week... It started with my cartomizers and juice in a baggy going through x-ray. I have flown for years for business and NEVER been as well groped as after they wiped my juice baggie put it in their analyzer and it "failed" - presented as explosive residue. The TSA agent groping me was a vapor himself but told me we had to go by procedure... They didn't give two craps about my battery loaded provari, but cartomizers evidently very closely resemble things that the TSA agent advised me NOT to google... bad stuff! It was a serious ordeal... they went through every pocket, nook and cranny of my briefcase..

Asking why my juice failed he could only guess that the juice must closely resemble a glycerine compound... duh

Maybe I'll wipe everything down with Bacardi.
