First post. I don't have a fancy review but felt compelled to post something as a newb to e-cigs in general, and V4L. Might help someone else who is researching and trying to figure out which way to go.

My journey:
- Heard of ecigs occasionally in the past but it never really sunk in.
- Week before last I saw a banner ad for the Blu and read their site. Was ready to order but figured it was worth researching some more...
- Found this forum after some googling. Now we're past marketing and into the nuts and bolts, so to speak. Was ready to order a 500-series but figured it was worth researching some more...
- Research cartomizers and found this part of the forum. Visited the V4L site and was impressed by the starter kit. Considered that the end of my research. Figured if it didn't work I was out some money and could try something else. Placed order on a Friday, I think.
- Package came the next Monday or Tuesday I think. Really quick shipment, I know it was only a couple days to get it.

The reason I titled this post stunned is that 1) I can't believe how well these things work and 2) the starter pack from V4L is very complete and very polished, everything was thought of. Even got a freebie or two thrown in. Ordered some other carts like Hilton, Virginia, Camel and Ry4 and they're all very good.

The first few days I split between regular and e-cigs. Found that I really enjoyed the ecigs and the tactile difference wasn't a deal-breaker at all. Now today (Monday, one week from receiving the package) I'm into 3 days completely ecig and things are fine. Keep expecting the strong urge for an "analog" but it's not there. Even with morning coffee. Of course YMMV.

Sorry if this sounds too rah-rah, just wanted to take minute to give kudos to ecigs in general and V4L specifically.

Congrats Sleon into the world of vaping :) I felt the same way. It's nice to be able to Drop the analogs for something that can substitute and not kill you..
I always hold my carts upright when filling them so juice runs down better and sideways.
Try using the Liption teabags as a filler instead of the poly thats in the carts. You will find it much better draw and not have to top off so much if youre gonna use ejuice and fill your own carts. Much cheaper.'

Congrats on letting go of analogs (regular Cigarettes) You will find in a couple of weeks from now on how much better you will breath, taste and smell. If you ever have an erge to smoke analogs just pick up your e-cig and vape away. Keep one 18mg or 24mg cartomizers with you if you use 11mg or less. Just in case you really have a bad erdge to smoke an analog. That really helps to fight that erdge with a few puffs of higher mg cartomizer. Then go back to your normal mg.

I vape 6mg cartomizers most of the time. It took me 3 months to get to that level. But I still keep some 18mg around when I really need that nicotine.

Either way stick with it and a month from now you will have more energy and just feel altogether better than when you were smoking analogs.

Smilin will keep you happy and if you ever have an issue just call him or PM or leave a thread here for Smilin to see and he will help in any way he can. Plus most of here will help you if we can as well if you are having an issue with the cartomizers or batteries.

keep vaping

Doots was refering to replacing the polyfill with a teabag filler for a different type model of ecig (NOT the cartomizer). Some people have found (including myself), that a lipton pyramid teabag (if cut and fit properly) works better than the "original" polyfill batting that come standard in models like the 510, 801, 901 and RN4081 models. Again it is not referring to the KR808D-1 cartomizer model like the Vapor King. Cant figure out why DOOT would post his comment in the V4L thread???? So, do NOT try to change the polyfill filler in the cartomizer, as it will NOT work and you will only destroy your cartomizer.

Hey Doots, a cartomizer, that is used only on the KR808D-1 type ecig (like the Vapor King), the polyfill CANNOT be changed like you are apparently doing with whatever type model PV you are using. Please retract your post as it will only cause confusion to the users of the Vapor King and/or other users of a PV that works with a CARTOMIZER.

CARTOMIZER: Definition: A cart that is integrated with its own atomizer and polyfill batting that is meant to be disposable when finished (though can be refilled). Atomizer+Cart=CARTOMIZER.

However, you should consider trying the Vapor King. You will not have the hassle or inconvenience of worrying about "changing" the polyfill to teabag filler to get better results from your PV. The Vapor King (cartomizer method), avoids all the hassles that you may be experiencing with your current PV. Hmmmm, lets see, take my fresh cartomizer and just twist onto my battery and start vaping. Wow, that seems easy. And, oh yeah, no messy refills, no changing anything to get optimum performance, and wow what a gratifying throat hit and vapor output I am experiencing using the Vapor King. And, WOW these cartomizers and batteries last a long time. And, oh how I am enjoying the 28 different flavors that taste oh so wonderful. Hmmmm, why didnt I think of the Vapor King in the first place?!?!

Thanks to all for the encouragement.

@doots: Sorry, bad wording on my part. What I meant to ask was after filling then leaving the cart to soak overnight, is there a preferred position? Didn't know if there was some leakage concern or issue that affects the cart's life if left for 8 hours in the wrong position. Maybe it just doesn't matter but figured it was worth asking.

@grimmer: Congrats on getting to such a low level. V4L threw in a 36mg (!!) pack of carts and they turned out to be a lifesaver. As a heavy analog smoker, it really dulls the urge quickly (and completely). So, yeah, when the occational strong urge hits I make sure to immediately pick up the 36 before the mind wanders too far.

Probably a good suggestion for newbs is to get a couple packs at that level to make sure they're covered with morning coffee and after meals. Then back to a 16mg or lower for the other parts of the day.

Sleon, no worries, I've been rah-rah since I picked up my V4L, I used another brand/type for a couple weeks and then switched (like you, the price was nice and low risk). Congrats on 3 days, Once I picked up my e-cig, I haven't had an analog since. Tomorrow makes 2 months for me. What'll really trip you out is when your senses of taste and smell start coming back. I go outside at work to vape with the smokers and I've started to notice that the smoke doesn't smell as appealing as it once did :) (it's also a GREAT place to spread the gospel of e-cigs, 5 recruits and counting, so far)

I also just started refilling my old carts and I noticed that Doshma's method of rolling it between your hands seems pretty effective, I also like to use the little rubber pin to get rid of any juice that's blocking the hole before I pit the cart up to soak.

Good luck, and enjoy!

@Steve: No problem, thanks for the quick service. Approaching 2 weeks since my initial order and so far, so good. Just put in a new order, figured I'd try to be adventurous with some new flavors, coffee and grape, maybe go way out on the limb next time with watermelon or chocolate.

And you've certainly got my curiosity about the new product, sure others around here are too...

@Symmetric: Thanks for the info about rolling the carts. Still experimenting, so far the refills are working well but 2x appears to be my limit. Starts getting "cottony" tasting on the third. Still way cheaper than analogs at $5/pack...

Should've asked in the original post... Just did my first cart refill, does it matter if you set the cart on its side or vertically to let it soak in? Is one position better than the other?

put the little rubber battery pin in the battery hole, and the rubber cap over it, but not too tight, use it for a nice stable base so it can stand on the battery end.

Remove the little white cap with a small screwdriver or pin punch by very carefully prying..it'll pop right out then carefully remove the little silicone juice blocker.

drip around the edge just a drop or two at a time and watch for it to absorb...drip a drop and turn cart some so you get it all the way around.

when the cartomizer appears to have absorbed all its going to (this takes practice...but dont panic if you get a drop or 3 too many) replace the little silicone juice blocker (it is like a doughnut, but with a grove on one side..that goes towards the batting, flat side towards mouthpiece and the mouthpiece.

if you think you may have overfilled, or even if you just arent sure, remove the battery cap and plug, and blow through battery end (if you blow from batting end, you end up blowing juice out of the batting too)...you should do this only if you feel youve overfilled, its usually not necessary.

remove all protective caps and stand cartomizer on battery end on a piece of paper or paper towel for maybe 5 min tops...any excess will drain as long as rubber caps are removed..then cap it up and store for use, or use immediately.

NOTE: as a cartomizer seems to get low or after it's been used, storing upright MOUTH PIECE DOWN allows the juice near the bottom of the cartomizer to get up to the atomizer (which is closer to the mouthpiece end and is first to dry out with use) I always store used but not empty cartomizers mouthpiece down for this reason.. to more fully use them up.

You *can* drip in the battery hole im told, but ive yet to find a reason or need to do so, not to mention its a lot easier to foul up a simple job that way..but to each his own, some people can pull it off, but probably not with a total fillup.

Just remember that the atomizer is at the top of the batting (or thats where it gets hottest and uses juice first) so store your atty mouthpiece down, or the whole device mouthpiece down to renew flavor on carts you *know* arent empty but want to empty as much as possible before refilling...

Hope that helps.

Note, there's a video or two on the process...one by Grimmgreen on youtube is very good, he's filling new empty carts, but its the exact same process and he very obviously knows what he's doing... leme find the link:

Grimmgreen's guide to cartomizer filling

Thats how it's done!

After spending quite a bit of time and $$$ on 510 and related supplies, the ease of the VK is what I am most looking forward to. Particularly b/c my wife is completely turned off by the tinkering the 510 involves. All that said, I'm thankful that my 510 has gotten me to day 7 tobacco free. Hoping the VK makes my wife a PV convert as well!!! :thumb:
