Who would have thought? Drapery hardware!

Want some fairly inexpensive and amazingly stylized tubing and end caps for your mod? I plan on using some of these in a project very soon and I think it will make for an amazing piece. They have a lot of options to choose from, but I really like the style of the "Infiniti collection" pieces. These will make for a fairly large/heavy mod.

Check it out

poland, and the brassy lands of google
Just a word of caution, I've looked at some of these, but the looks exceed the functionality, aside from hanging curtains. The tubes are minimal and seamed, and the caps are heavy and closed, with a small screw to hold them onto the tubes. It is hard to get a cap that is actually deep enough to hold a batt. That aside, if you can make it happen, by all means go for it.

I would use tubing from SmallParts.com, but this is actually hollow. The reason I looked these up is because I saw them hanging in a friends house and noticed how clean they looked. The way they are made is the decorative piece is welded over a hollow tube with about a 22.7mm ID and 69.85mm L, which would leave room for polycarbonate tubing to encase an 18650 (18.5mm aprox. OD and 65mm-66mm L), so it's perfect size for this battery in length at just a few mm longer.

Edit: I would need to figure out the best way to incorporate the bottom end cap/spring and a button. I'm thinking I would slide this decorative piece over a smaller tube that is already threaded on one end and the right size for the 18650 battery.

Yeah, that's where amazon always tries to entice. For tubing I have had good experiences with onlinemetals.com, both price and quality. Also, a 18650 is pretty much 67mm long with the protection counted, and 4mm doesn't leave a lot of room for other things.

Yeah, that's where I'm going with a pre-threaded SS tube to fit inside of the decorative piece--something that I can cut to length for the batt and big enough for a sleeve and components. I always dig things that are fully mechanical+protected batteries so I don't have to mess with maintaining electronics. I like using things around the house for modding, but I can't see myself sneaking into my friends house in the middle of the night to make off with their drapery hardware. :x
