OK, I am going to start building my FIRST COIL, which from the reading I have done will be a DUAL COIL build for what I am aiming for. I have been doing alot of research and I am looking to aim for a .2 ohm build. Could anyone could give me input on if I should put space between my wraps or not and how it affects flavor/clouds? AND YES I am using Steam Engine and Coil Builder to help me calculate wraps and everything on an ohm meter.

I was looking to use the 24guage kanthal wire that came with the kit and cotton bacon I ordered.

Regulated Mod:
smok Tpriv 220w
Two samsung 25r batteries
The RBA I just ordered is the Dead Rabbit rda

Ok so this is actually my first post ever on this website so please go easy on me lol!

Your batteries have a 20 amp CDR so do not exceed 120 watts if you want to stay safe.
On a regulated device the coil resistance is not really important. What is important is surface area and the mass of the coil. 24G is quite heavy. What wattage do you like to vape at?
Spaced or not is a matter of preference, try both and see what you think.

Hi zangetsu88inc. Welcome to the ECF.

Asking about Spaced or Non-Spaced Coils is like asking if you should put Salt on Scrambled Eggs? Some will say Absolutely. And some will say No Way. Because it is really a Taste thing. I think the Best thing to do is to Try Both. And see which one gives You the type of Hit you are seeking.

The same goes for Wire Alloys and Wire Gauges.

Do your 24ga Kanthal Coil(s) build and see how you like them. But also try using a Thinner Wire like 26ga. As well as a Alloys like Stainless Steel(s) and or NiChrome 80.

Yes, it is hard to answer those subjective questions. Many feel they get better results in TC using a spaced coil, but not everyone. It's also going to depend on factors like how the atomizer is set up and how much room you have to build dual coils etc. Similarly, different types of wires will offer different experiences, and wire gauge will also make a difference. Etc. I'd say just pick a starting point (and probably an easier one to start, most folks find contact coils easier to wind, I do not, actually) and keep notes as you experiment.

I know this sounds like pretty useless advice probably, but they way to discover what you "like" is to experiment with your builds at first and see what you get/what you like, and narrow things down that way.

Kanthal can't be used in TC, so if that is what you have, it may be worthwhile to start with a contact coil first, and see how you like them. Then you can try spaced, and etc. IDK if steam engine calculates for spaced coils, actually, although really, you are gong to have possibly slightly less wraps, as they are "spaced" out, and the question will become "can I get enough wraps on a spaced coil to fit in THIS atomizer deck" and etc. Although I'd hazard a guess steam engine MIGHT calculate it for you, it seems to calculate most everything else. I just kind of went on basic principles of "I will probably need 1/2 to 1 wrap less to get the same resistance" and it's been fairly accurate so far.

Best of luck,

Anna

I use spaced coils from time to time mostly on my single coil hadaly they do seem to gunk up slower and hot spots are nonexistent. Most of the time I use Clapton Coils 316L SS (26g/30g) since I have become a TC snob I did try a build with them spaced on my Dead Rabbit in dual coil and I did not like it as much so tossed them and went back to non-spaced dual. As to the amount of wire I used the same amount spaced or not
