Bought a subtank mini to test out sub ohm, chase some clouds and maybe even get familiar with building coils, but I dont know about sub ohm. Its harsh! It burns my throat, makes me cough and I dont really see any difference in my clouds. Am I missing something? The flavor is a little better, thats the only positive difference I notice, but I dont really want to get my throat used to this harshness (didnt quit smoking to tear my throat up), is that what people are doing or is there a way to make this smoother?

get some 3mg juice. Try something from here: thedripclub.com. You will love it.

I should have mentioned that. I did start with a 3mg 50/50 juice, now I'm looking at some higher VG juices. I'll have to order, the only all VG juice I have is 12mg Tobacco flavor so I'm not even gonna try that. I've been thinking about trying an orange or maybe an orange cream type flavor, any suggestions? Any idea why my clouds aren't really any bigger than I can get out of my nautilus? I've taken some killer rips off this subtank but at best the clouds are comparable. I really did get this thing with the hopes of some huge clouds, but to get the same sizeI'm getting, I have to cough so hard.

I've been trying to get into sub'ing for awhile now too. Now matter what I try, it's just not my thing. I think it's often made to sound like the next level of vaping, but I've found that it really is just a preference thing. It's not even the liquid for me, I think it's just taking it straight into the lungs that hard is too much.

Higher VG will certainly help things, but don't assume that it's 'better.' Long live mouth to lung!

It should be smooth and tasty. As long as its above 50/50 vg/pg, I don't think the vg/pg has much to do with it. It just needs to be a good juice at 3mg nicotine. And the airflow needs to be open and right in front of the coils. If its harsh at all, something is not right so go back and change something.

No reason to take big lung hits unless yer chasing clouds! A gentle two second pull will give you ample smooth taste and vapor if everything is working right!;)
OP is chasing clouds.

ETA: and it also depends on how low the coils are. Does the subtank go down to .2 now? You need more airflow with this than mouth to lung is capable. It will be too hot. Lung hits are for flavor chasers too.

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. I've been playing around with this thing and I think that I've gotten a little more used to it. I think I just didnt know what to expect. I was trying to take huge rips to get huge clouds which had me coughing alot, but the vape is smooth and tasty now that I'm taking more conservative hits. I still think that I can get big clouds on the nautilus but I get them a little quicker on the subtank. For what its worth I think I'll relegate the subtank to special juices, the really nice and expensive ones so that I can really get the flavor, otherwise, I'll stick to my tootle puffer ways and not burn through my juice so fast

I approve of this post. Mouth to lung feels way more natural to me and I'm not going to be entering any cloud competitions in my lifetime. I actually had no idea people smoked cigs with direct lung inhales. Way too harsh for my liking.

I have 3 Subtank Nanos but I use the 1.2 ohm coils (have some 1.5 ohm VOCC coils on the way) and I use the smallest air opening.

Now that I'm getting used to the Subtank I'm remembering what it was like to get a quick fix from Marlboro Lights, before I switched to American Spirits a few years ago (because I just felt less ill all the time smoking Spirits). The subtank is a quick, big hit. My nautilus is more like the Spirit, I puff it like a cigar, just puffing and rolling the smoke like your building up a big cherry. Both good in their own way, I'd be better off drinking/chain vaping with the nautilus, but I can move on quicker from the subtank, it packs such a wallop. Man i'm glad i found ECF I have no homies that vape and its a bummer not having anyone to BS about it with. =)
