I was just wondering whats the point. Genuine question, hear me out...

I know people do it, I just don't see the point and heres why:
I think sub ohming comes from using mechanicals. To get higher wattage with a mechanical, the only thing you can do is adjust your ohms. So lower ohms gets you higher wattage. With 200w mech mods on the market you can build just about whatever you want and set your desired wattage, so why build for super low ohms?
I've always been happy with 28ga at 1.4 ohms around a 3/32 drill bit for my single coils, so .7ohm dual coils. Plenty of surface area on the coil for airflow, heats up quick and gives me a nice cool dense vape that I like. building at .2 or below seems ridiculous to me, but I'm not judging - as long as your not smoking and your vaping safely, enjoy!

I wish I could find the thread but there was a great discussion on this topic about a month or so ago. I've searched several times and couldn't find it.

But the OP's point was the same, why not go regulated and have the flexibility to achieve the vape you are looking for without sub-ohm.

That being said, I do enjoy my 100+ with a dripper on top with duels at 1 ohm. The vapor it produces is insane.

I know what one your talking about I read it not to long ago... I take a gander through my history and see if I can find it... Though my history is probably lines and lines of ECF posts lol

The high wattage regulated boxes on the market can only operate within a certain output voltage range - most require sub-ohm builds to achieve max power output. Sub-ohm doesn't mean the same thing in the VW regulated world as it does in the unregulated mech world. Coil resistance only determines output voltage when talking about a regulated VW mod.

Many people are into the hobby of building coils for mechanical mods. I enjoy it greatly. If I want to use a regulated box, I want it to be able to fire the same atomizers that I already carefully built for my vast slew of mechanicals. Why should I have to rebuild my RDA just so I can use it on a different device? Regulated is supposed to be versatile, so it shouldn't require extra work to be interchangeable. I wouldn't consider one that doesn't fire down to .2 ohm... I would prefer one that fires down to .15 even.

I agree with DaveSignal regarding avoiding the hassle of rebuilding for different devices. I don't use mech and only use regulated box mods, so I don't really pay that much attention to the resistance of my builds, since the regulated mod will auto adjust voltage for me. I just build for best flavor depending on what works best for the specific RDA or RTA I'm using. Never really needed to go below .7 or .8 with 26G dual coil builds. This thread is pretty informative http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ughts-about-sub-ohm-latest-vv-vw-devices.html
