Most ex-smokers will never really "need" sub-ohm to quit smoking.
Many are perfectly satisfied using a coil(atomizer/cartomizer/clearo or tank) with
resistance levels of the heating coil between 1.5-2.5 ohms.
Understand however, if a vapers norm is 2 ohm and they get a new tank/atty etc. that uses a 1 ohm resistance coil, for example, the power draw from the battery will double under the same power settings used for the 2 ohm coil. Vapour production should double along with heat, throat hit, nic. hit and possibly flavour. This is not yet sub-ohm though.
Using a device with a 0.5 ohm coil will again double up on everything stated above. Everything, power draw, heat, vapour production, throat hit and nic. intake, this is of course if the vaper takes exactly the same draw as on the higher resistance device.
The problems many face going below 1 ohm(sub-ohm) are many,
1. They need to know ohms law, battery limits and specs, battery safety. It takes hours of study and a certain level of understanding along with a good ability to do the math. Some don't bother to do this.
At best it just won't vape well for them, at worst they experience a battery failure.
2.Many times the liquid that was beautiful on a 2 ohm coil will taste bad at 1 ohm and just horrid at 0.5ohm. Flavourings and nicotine levels need to be lowered, almost always. Some don't and then believe
sub ohming is not for them.
3. Because of the increase in power and heat it is necessary to change the draw technique. Much more airflow is required to prevent the coil from overheating, getting too hot and burning lips and liquid. yuck!
Many are unable to modify their their draw technique. Sub ohmimg is not for them.
4. Due to the extra power needed batteries last a shorter period of time between charges. Some folks do not like having to recharge or swap out batteries more often.
5. The liquid consumption increases dramatically, it can be very costly if a 25 dollar bottle of your fav. liquid only lasts you 2 days now instead of a week or 2. Unwilling to DIY or change liquids, sub ohming is not for them.
There are certainly other issues undoubtedly but you get the idea. Every single one of these points are valid reasons for a person to stay above the 1 ohm resistance level. Each vaper is unique, our preferences and expectations are mostly all different.
Some like it, some don't, it's all good. Each individual has much more choice today than even 6 months ago.
Having more choices is a good thing because it means more folks will be able to find something that works best for them to stop smoking. END. Cheers.
