Hello new to vaping here.

I am 23 years old that just quit smoking and trying to join a community online where I can learn and hopefully help as well. After I started buying all my stuff ended up with the evic vt tc and the starre pro tank .2 ohm Nickel.

I afterwards read somewhere that it was dangerous but it didnt really specify why..

Just trying to confirm the facts.

THanks in advanced :)

I don't know why it would be labeled as dangerous, unless that's a reference to battery misuse.
With sub ohm higher watt/volt is used and therefore can strain a power source/equipment past its limits, causing failure.
Just make sure to do your homework, and err on the side of safety.

Thanks! I'm using temp control (evic vt) is this something I need to be concerned about since it is built in?

Freemax Starre Pro Generally from .1 to .5 are the nickel coils I use

Hi vapeju and welcome to ECF :)

The Evic VT TC is a variable wattage mod like all TC mods are. It runs in VW mode with Kanthal coils and what they call VT mode (variable temperature) with titanium or nickel coils. The rest of the world calls that TC mode (temperature control). Specs are 60 watts max in both VW and VT mode and it safely takes heads between 0.15 - 3.5 ohms in VW mode and 0.05 - 1.0 ohms in VT mode. As long as you stay within these resistance numbers the mod will fire and you are safe. If you go over or under these numbers the mod will give you an error message and will not fire, so even that is safe.

I am not aware of any safety issues reported with the Evic VT TC, but if anyone knows of issues please post.

There are some folks who think that nickel or titanium are unsafe to vape but I know of nothing that makes me believe that. There are also some folks who believe that 0.05 ohms in any device is unsafe for your battery, but these mods are wattage controlled. That means you set the watts in either VW or VT mode and that sets the maximum current draw from your battery irrelevant of the resistance. Mechanical mods are the opposite because with them your resistance sets the watts and if you go too low you will pull more current from the battery than it can handle.

Enjoy your new gear

Some people such as myself are allergic to Nickel.

In TC Nickel is fine. In power mode Nickel can oxydize at the higher temps

Some of the early lots would flip out of TC to wattage (power mode) and at high temp Nickel will oxydize. You don't wand Nickel oxide in your lungs

TC mode is fine. Mod builders limit temp control to 600 degrees Fahrenheit for a reason.
