Subtank mini falling apart...

So I tried to screw off the base of my subtank mini about an hour ago to refill, and the base screwed apart into 2 peices ( can't really explain it but I'll include pics). Now I can't get my tank open to refill and when I put the airflow ring back on it doesn't click anymore it just spins around all loose. Anyone had this issue?

Can't say I've seen or experienced that with my mini. You probably got a defective one. When it came apart there should have been a ball bearing inside that makes the click as you turn it. If you got it from a local B&M I'd just return it. It should not come apart like that.

This happened to me the other day. I just used a pliers to open the rest of the base. Of course, squeeze it gently and it'll come loose enough to open. I refilled and screwed everything back on. No leaks.

Yea I can see the little hole where the ball bearing would have been, but it must have popped out when I unscrewed the base. I tried using pliars to get the rest of it off the tank but its really stuck on there. Any other ways I could loosen it up?

Throwing it against a brick wall would probably work once! LOL
That would loosen it but refilling would be a bit difficult.

You lost the ball bearing as others have said. It won't lock in place without that. It's a small metal ball. See if you can find it or maybe find a similar one.

Yea I might just leave the airflow ring off, I'm just trying to find a way to get the rest of the base off now, I still can't refill it
