Subtank Mini OCC - Rebuild dry hits and stock leaks... Suggestions?

So I purchased myself a subtank mini a few weeks ago. The OCC coil that came in the box was great for a week until it started leaking through the airflow - I've been using Element Liquid in it (80/20 VG/PG).

So I decided to buy a new coil head from the local vape shop. This one started leaking on me too after a couple of days.

I then started to rebuild one of the OCCs with 26g kanthal wire. 3mm drill bit with 5 wraps gave me 0.7ohms using japanese cotton and just enough that it wasn't too tight but firm - now it's dry hitting like crazy.

Any suggestions on what can be done with either the stock coils or when you're rebuilding one as I can't seem to find the right answer for it. Tried lightly poking a hole through the centre to make absorbing liquid easier but that didn't help. I also tried fluffing out the end of it with no luck.

Bit frustrated as this tank is beautiful especially in black colour and a lot of other people seem to be having good luck with it.

Any advice would be brilliant!

Thanks in advance.

The RBA section works perfectly! Much better flavour, no dry hits as of yet and no gurgling / leaking!

Thanks guys, wouldn't have bothered using this RBA in a small tank until you suggested it.

Anyone else that runs into this problem, don't bother with the OCC coils or trying to rebuild them. Use the RBA section :)
I am using the RBA and it is super easy to build and works great.

For fun, I tried to rewick my first OCC coil today. Suprisingly easy as well. Moving forward, I am going to do both. I probably have a dozen Kamger OCCs in tanks or unused. I won't be bothering trying to re-coil any OCCs, but I will rewick them until the coils die.

$3-6 a week for disposable coils isn't going to put me in the poorhouse, but I enjoy rebuilding and if I can save $200-300 a year rebuilding OCCs and using RBAs, why not?

You must have the horizontal coil OCC coil heads then.
