Thanks for the response everyone. I am running the 1.2 coil at 12w right now and the popping seems to be happening less. Hoping that it just needs some breaking in. I also read that the sweet juice is more likely to do this and I am using a 100% VG Vazilla mixed with 50/50 Flame Thrower so it is super sweet.

Crank that power up!

12W on a 1.2 ohm coil is nothing. You're getting the popping because you're basically flooding the coil with juice faster than you can convert it to vapor so you develop vapor bubbles under the juice and it pops out like a boiling pot of water.

With the 1.2 ohm coil try bumping the wattage up to 15W and see how well that works. You may find that 15W is too low and bump it up higher. Keep going higher until it starts to either lose the flavor or taste a little burnt and then back it down by about 1W.

For the .5ohm coil you really want around 35W for it to work right.

Popping and spitting is a common symptom of a flooded coil. Common enough that many people think it's normal, but it shouldn't be happening. It means your coil is completely covered in liquid and the vapor is boiling though that layer of liquid. Turning up the power will reduce if not entirely eliminate the popping.

Hm, I'm at 19.5 (my sweet spot), 1.2 ohm, with max VG and I hardly ever get the crackling. It's most noticeable for me when the juice is hot or cold, like if I keep it in my pocket for a long time, or if it's in direct sunlight when I'm driving. Because you're holding down the firing button so long (I'm assuming at 12 W), it might just be boiling your juice a little too much. I used to use by mine around 12 for a long time, but I noticed I was going through my coils quicker because I was firing off longer than the 2-3 second hits I take at 19.5. I'm no expert at all, but maybe try experimenting with higher watts.

Picked up my Kanger Subtank Mini yesterday and when I fired it up it popped and crackled. Had the 0.5 coil in. Tried adjusting the airflow, higher wattage, lower wattage...no difference. Switched to the 1.2 coil and it's better, no more crackling, but still pops. Vapes great, no leaks, no spitting liquid...just pops. From everything I've read here and other forums...it's seems to just be the nature of the beast.
