Hello all

So i recently got a subtank mini. Tbh i dont find the flavor that thrilling from the occ coils (or my taste buds are messed up) and i tried building on the rba section. Now my question is i feel the flavor a lot using the rba but i am feeling like there is some spitting from the tank and i think the reason i feel the flavor so much is because of liquid spitting in my mouth. Is that the case or should be spitting of liquid be an unpleasant eperience? Because for me its pleasant since i feel the flavor more

i recently got one also. i find that every time i get a new atomizer i have to find the sweet spot with coil/juice/wattage and my mood. i had a max VG low nic juice made for dripping in the tank on the stock RBA coil and it was fantastic. when it was empty i washed it out and switched to another favorite juice and it was just meh. i`ve only had it a week so it will take some time to find what builds work best on it. i did not get any spitting up through the mouthpiece though.

I have not had that issue with my ST mini...and I am brand new at building my own coils..l just followed the rip trippers video on youtube. I'm not sure how you could really have flavor issues with the stock occ coils, unless there was residual machine oil in the tank...I had that happen with one of mine...cleaned it with hot water and dish soap and never had the issue again.

Spitting can be possibly be due to having too much cotton. I had the issue on my first few builds on the RBA as I had too much cotton. After various trial and errors, I managed to get the right (density and length of the cotton) amount and I do not have anymore spitting, dry hits or leaking.

Btw, which coil resistance and what wattage you were vaping at when using the occ coil?

I get spitting also (Ni200) with the RBA.
Putting a small strip (coil width) of KGD skin over the coil, wick to wick stops it.
Using 50/50 juice,I noticed more spitting with some juices, than others.
More sweetener, maybe?

Do you by any chance have any pics on how you place the extra cotton ? :) That would be really helpful

Well the way i wick is i cut the cotton so it just touches behind juice channels without covering them, but in last build i tried to use the U method were i cut each side in half with scissors.

As for the occ well i tried from 17-28 but usually vaped it at 24-26w. I was really dissapointed though when after vaping two full tanks i got an off taste and when i removed cotton from occ it was all burned... Maybe a faulty coil..

Hmm..I've not experienced the cotton burning on the occ before aside from setting the wattage too high for the liquid...that is if you are referring to the pre-built coils and not rebuild occ coils.

As for RBA build, here are some pics of my personal preference on wicking the RBA:

I did try this wicking method now, the width was size of coil but i had no airflow, too much wick? Thnks for the link btw

I used only about half the width shown in the link. Just enough to cover the coil, but not block the airflow. My coils are 3mm, about 1/8" wide strip.

Spitting or the snap, crackle, pop is usually a result of not having enough cotton between the coils. Pack it in there tight (but not so tight that it moves your coil out of place).

Welcome to the club. I too am having the same issues you describe. Only, not only do I find the flavor not that thrilling, I find it non-existent.. I can't even tell what juice I'm using. Vapor production is excellent! Flavor, not so much!
I tried both the coils that came with it and built a .5 ohm micro and same results. I'm using rayon and tried more wick, less wick, tails touching bottom wells, you name it. But can't seem to get this thing dialed in. Very frustrating. As I love the vapor production and air flow. I fully expected this to replace my Kayfuns but so far, NOT.

Hey there man, i know it can be really frustrating. I dont know why everyone likes their occ coils but i wasnt impressed. I havent tried yet to rebuild the occ coils so maybe if you rebuild them it will work better for you?

In terms of the rba i actually made a setup that really worked for me flavor, vapour and no dry hits chain vaping. I found that standard coils wok better for me so maybe you should try a standard and see how it goes? I did 6-7 wraps on 2.4 mm and wicked with ... cotton. The wicking method i used was the common one used for kayfuns and subtank mini builds i see. I cut the wick just a little after the base then used a small toothpick pushed the wick behind channels( there was just a tiny bit more cotton which i tucked under but my juice channels were clear). I put some juice on and installed. Worked for me in the end.

Hope standard coil helps more m8.

I do my rba coils and wick like this too...they work great, no issues.
