I would have searched but I cant find the search function on the forum. I have searched google though, couldn't find what I was looking for. Simple question, I bought that kanger subtank mini, it came with vertical coils and not horizontal ones. I'd like to be able to build new coils, but verticals seem a bit too much work for a newbie. so can i build a horizontal and put it in the body of a vertical and wick through?

yes no problem

some of the cheap clone coils from fasttech dont have the removable top to the coil body so they would be easier to rebuild as horizontal also

the good thing about rebuilding the occ coils is you can build to the ohms you prefer as long as they are short enough to drop in through the top of the coil body

the search tool is in the top right of the page

hope this helps

Well if you got the ST mini, it should have come with the rebuildable deck version 2, would be much easier to put a coil in it instead of tearing apart a factory coil head. But if you could so happen to get the factory ST VOCC coil head apart enough to where you could put back together without destroying it completely then yes, you could rebuild it.

another tip when wrapping a coil for the occ body find a small drill bit or screwdriver that has a fair amount of wiggle room through the occ coil body

if you use one that is a realy nice snug fit through the holes when wrapping the coil it harder to line up and thread though the coil when mounting it and also makes it a little tricky to feel the tension on the wick as you pull it through the coil

so using a slightly smaller drill bit or screwdriver allows for better feel when wicking the new coil aswell

Is there a big difference between the first and second version of the RBA section of the subtask mini?

Yes, the V1 deck had juice channels like those you find on a Kayfun, so juice wicking is harder with thicker juices. The V2, the juice holes are in the barrel itself and larger, takes getting the wicking tucked properly, but the V2 has a little better airflow than the V1 and handles thicker juices better.

Thanks. I have to get a V2 and try it out. Are the V1 and the V2 interchangeable? The reason I'm asking is I'm not using it on Subtanks.

i have both decks v1 and v2 but still prefer the draw on the occ coils as its less restrictive and has better air flow

i have 3 of the later decks and 3 of the older decks that came with my tanks

so if i wanted i could pre build all the spare decks and swap them out like the occ coils

but the occ coils just breath better than either of the rba decks

i even considered the thought of opening up the air holes in the bottom of the rba,s but just not enough metal to allow for slightly larger holes so cant realy be fixed
