I recently purchased two Kanger vertical could. And to be honest I didn't really like the hit I got from the vertical coil. My horizontal coil hits much better and I don't want to keep wasting money on coils. Also if any of you do you have the Subtank mini how often do you all change out your coils? I'd love some feed back! Thanks friends!

I change out my coils anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks, depending on how hard the juice is on them. Some juices gunk them up really quick. Once I know that, I don't use them in the Subtanks or rewick.

Do you rewick your coils? This can help extend their life quite a bit, especially if you're finding you have to swap out relatively frequently.

I'm not sure if Kanger is planning on completely doing away with the horizontal OCCs in favor of the verticals or what, but I might try and stock up on the horizontals some just in case if you have a strong preference. I'm still working through my horizontals and haven't gotten any of the vertical coils yet, so I can't really speak to making that a better experience for you.

One thing Ive noticed with the vertical coils is the holes for the wicking have the cotton recessed. This is causing occasional dry hit caused by air bubbles in the recesses stopping juice flow. On the horizontal coils the cotton is flush and this never happened. I'm using the 1.2 heads at 15 watts

I get around a month per coil and I agree about the new coils, the old ones are much better

I have the mini and the plus. Both of which I use the rba. I'll just come out and say what's on my mind. The stock coils are a waste of time. If you don't like rebuilding, I understand but once you do it a few times, it takes about as long to put a new coil in and rewick as it does to change out a coil. It's also much, much cheaper to use the rba. If you don't want to wrap coils, you can buy premade ones from Fasttech for something like $3 for 50 coils. You can even buy pre-wicked coils for a bit more and save even more time. Another plus is that the rba coils last 3 months with the occasional rewick and dry burn. They have tutorials on youtube from people that probably have trouble putting on a hat so I feel you can do it and with a couple of tries, you'll learn to have fun with it. :)

I just received my shipment containing a Subtank Mini and two packs of replacement OCC coils, checked the coils and happy to notice they are horizontal. I ordered the Subtank to get an introduction into RBAs and got two packs of OCCs as back up just in case. I'm really looking forward to building my first coil and wick set up :)

Coming from the Aspire Nautilus system I was not quite sure if I was wanting to wind my own coils ether. However after getting some wire, cotton and watching a few youtube videos I pulled the RBA out of the box and within minutes I was vaping on my 1st coil.

I now have a few un-opened OCC boxes laying about that may never get used.

Don't get me wrong, I get using the pre-built coils. Its quick, easy and if you shop around can cost as little as $1-2 a coil. Pretty handy if you like to vape coil clogging juices - just pop one out and another one in. Considering the daily cost of 'analogs' most of us were spending having to pony up a few dollars for a fresh coil every now-and-then is fairly inexpensive compared to the analogs.

Personally, I bought a few extra RBA's that I've pre-built which I can carry one or more around as a spare for my STM tank(s). If a wick or coil fails in the field it will be an easy swap and be back up and vaping again.

Have you tried the second vertical coil you have purchased? My first vertical coil was defective and I was not getting close to a saturated hit.
They should be airier then the horizontal coils and I have found to get a similar hit they require more wattage. On the horizontal coil I was doing around 25watts on the 0.5 ohm. On the vertical coil I fire them around 30-35 watts to get a similar experience. I have found them to be at minimum equal to the horizontal coils but able to wick substantially better without having to poke holes in the old horizontal coils for higher vg content. All of these comments are based only on the 0.5ohm coils. I have not used any of the higher ohm versions.
