Hi

I been off of the vape for about a year now, but decided its time to get back on the train. Previously i been a genesis user, but been looking for something with involves less work and thinkering, so i decided to give the subtank a go.

The stock coils leaked and spitted quite a bit for me, so i went ahead and did my own build, i was aiming for about 1.5 ohms and used a 3mm drill bit to wrapp the coil, with 0.25mm kanthal.

The first build was ok, but it still had some problems with leaking, especally when the juice goes towards empty in the tank. I did another build, same 3mm drill bit, but used koh gen cotton this time and the coil came out at 1.1 ohms.

Now im not getting any leaking, but instead i get dry hits, specially at higher watts, like 20+w.

Im having trouble with getting the right ammount of cotton thru the coil, it seems either it gets too compressed, or i dont get enough in it, and yesterday i had to take a lil bit of extra cotton and stuff into the head to make sure the channels aint just open straight into the coils. Not sure if this is a good thing or not?

So, i wonder, is it easier/better to go with a bigger inside diameter on the coil, or maybe smaller? i assume it will be easier to get the cotton thru if it has a bigger diameter, but not sure how big i can go?

How much cotton should i use, do u guys twist it to get it to go thru the coil? and is it a good or a bad thing to stuff some cotton in there after the coil is done to make sure no juice leaks past the cotton?

Im also wondering if its better to use a thicker kanthal, maybe 0.35mm with more wrapps, now i have like 4 wrapps, but maybe better if i get like 6-8 wrapps with a thicker kanthal so the coil gets more surface area?

I dont care about chasing clouds, im more of a chainvaper, so just looking for something that will keep up to my chain vape.

Its a Subtank pluss, any help or tips is greatly appriciated.

Thanks.

If your doing a 3mm inner coil cut a strip of cotton 4mm wide twist one end to thread it through and then gently pull on the cotton if it moves with a bit of resistance your on the ball and wicking should be OK. Also make sure you cut the cotton so the ends sit on the lower deck none in the juice channels. You didn't mention what juice ratio your using but personally I found anymore then 50% VG caused problems with the plus I ended up having issues with VG so cut mine down to 70\30 PG & VG and I don't have any issues anymore.
