Hello e-cig community! Allow me to introduce myself-- I shall lurk no longer. I am a gentleman from the west suburbs of Chicago, Illinois.

You know-- normally I phase out 99% of the ads out here on the internet, but my eyes were drawn to a Blu ecig advertisement and it struck a chord. There are a few people in my life who are binded with the cancer sticks and with little success at quitting. Naturally I was skeptical at first, but I eventually stumbled upon this forum. A couple days of sifting through all the information and I decided to give the DSE901 a go (thanks VaporGuys!)

So far it's not too shabby! I bought one for my girlfriend and she's gone from a pack a day to 1-2 analogues-- and that's just fabulous! Flavoring is the only thing keeping her from going completely smoke free. After a little more research I'll be trying some more flavors.

As things are sailing along, I have this burning desire to really promote e-cigs and get the momentum going. The people in my region that I talk to have either never heard about e-cigs or heard about them but never had the opportunity to try and then never heard of their success.

One major issue that I see preventing ecigs from truly catching on is how complicated it can be to get straight and unbiased facts about e-cigs, eliquids, and the sort. Every supplier can say that theirs is the best or the first, leading the newbies into uninformed purchases. How many people have bought Blus and then canceled the order to go with something else after sifting through these forums? Then the forums are simply a rat's-nest of information.

The Wiki is a GREAT idea-- however as it currently stands (unless I'm missing something) does not have a whole bunch of useful information. So many PV models are red-linked and broken. Some articles are all advertisement with little factual information. There needs to be a "hitchhikers guide" to personal vaporizers.

I think that's what I want to direct my motivation towards: organizing and defining PV information in the simplest, informative, and unbiased way possible. Is anybody else doing this? We need to join forces if so.

It really would be nice if someone were to do that.
And as far as I know, you would be the first to tackle it.

I think the PV vendor who is paying attention and wants to make oodles of money needs to 'donate' devices and paraphernalia to the movie industry. There is so much exposure on the big screen and so much of our culture is shaped by it. Just think of how many catch phrases, clothes styles, hair styles, etc, etc, etc have started when seen in the movies.

Just imagine the clamor if Al Pacino, Susan Sarandon, et al, reaches for an "e-cig" on the big screen. This forum would quadruple in size over night -- which would crash the fragile server no doubt, but I digress.

But alas, it would take a very savvy businessman to deliver the goods and make the right contacts. We have some suppliers here who I think could pull it off. Who wants to be that savvy, creative and enormously rich guy though? I'm thinking in no particular order it could be -- Steve from PS, Noah from Innovapor and Shawn from Litecig. Guys, can you imagine <name your mega star here> lifting the lid on a PV box with your company's name on it on the big screen? Can you say; "ca-ching!?" I knew you could. <g>

If done properly, I agree. Hollywood would make PVs skyrocket and it would be oodles of money for all of the PV vendors.

My first thought is needing to get away from the e-cig title. I think we should head more into the personal vaporizer title. Hopefully that will get us away from the stigma of cigarettes.

Definitely. However, e-cig rolls of the tongue nicely and makes it easier for newbies to understand what they are. Personal vaporizer is a mouthful, and sounds like something coming out of high tech millitary research. Definately want to get away from the stigma of cigarettes though.

It really would be nice if someone were to do that.

Cool. Looks like I have a place, the skills, and now I just need to find the time. Perhaps a revamped wiki with stricter editing.

I was watching Big Brother (yes I admit I'm addicted to that silly show :) ) and was thinking about the fact that when they have smokers that run out of cigarettes they give them Nic patches. Wouldn't it be great if they gave them e-cigs instead. The other houseguests raving about how there is no icky smell anymore and millions of folks seeing them in use would be an incredible boost.
