Sucking the filter onto the atomiser coil

Hi all, I'm still playing around with various techniques to achieve the best throat hit, vapour amount, working out when to refill, how to judge by the taste changing etc. I've pretty much started to settle on slow inhalation with 3-4 drops on the cart filter and one on the atomiser each refill.

I have a 901 setup and occasionally I manage to suck the filter out of the cart so that it sticks to the atomiser coil. As you may know, or can imagine, it's not a great taste.

Just wondering if anyone has experienced this and if you have any tips on how to avoid it?

The cart material melts when the atomizer gets really hot. Most 901 carts are not glued in like the pen, cigar and pipe. So when the cart melts it sticks to the mesh then slides out.

The only was to stop this is to push the mesh deeper into the cart. This will cause wicking problems.

Another solution is not to let the atomizer get to hot, which can reduce the pleasure of smoking because the hotter the atomizer is, the better your hit and flavor is.

Most of us dont use carts at all with the 901, we simply drip 1 or 2 drops from a bottle of e-liquid directly on the mesh. Not to much though, you dont want to flood the atomizer. 2 drops will be equal in smoking time to a regular cigarette, about 10 puffs.
It is a good way to keep track of your nicotine intake as well

That definitely provides a better, more consistent hit, do you find that you use more juice with that technique?

I've heard a few people say this has happened with their 901's, it seems to be one of the quirks. One of the suggested fixes was to insert and remove the cartridge without twisting, the filler can get caught on the wire in the atomiser if you twist. Wiggling back and forward while pulling is the best way to remove apparently.

That's probably right Kate, I have been twisting every time to find the point with the most resistance (in theory the tightest fit, and the best seal).

Look at my thread on kevlar cart material. Initial tests indicate that it will not stick to atomizers in 901s or penstyles. Makes sense cause it will not melt, and if it does you are standing too close to a leaky reactor.

Very nice Jaaxx, will be watching with interest, now all we need are kevlar pocket protectors :D

robw: That makes sense, been dripping only the last few hours, I think I'm becoming a drip convert.
