Sudden drop in vapor production?

I've been vaping with a 510 for around five months now, and have gone through the standard share of "getting to know the equipment" issues, including what is probably an atomizer death, though without a multimeter I can't really tell. I've switched to dripping with a drip tip I bought early on for the last month or so. I wash my atomizer once every three or four days.

Within the last few days I've had suddenly drastically lower vapor production from one of my atomizers, immediately after cleaning. The only thing I can think that i did differently was pushing a paper towel into the atomizer compartment. The thing still works, but only just barely. Is this just the atty's death, or did I screw it up with the paper towel somehow?

Did you blow it out just to see if it's flooded?

I am having a similar problem with one M401 atty except I've only been using it 2 months. I think I may have clogged it up extra one week when I tried a very thick VG juice and was also trying some juices that might have oil-based flavorings (citrus). This time my usual overnight alcohol wash just didn't rejuvenate it fully. I don't know. Maybe some die slowly. I am tempted to order another atty and wash/store the weakish one as an emergency spare only.
