First, please don't flame me. I've searched the forum and didn't see anything about this topic.

Ok, I admit I have a sweet tooth. The problem is all the sweeteners I've tried like sucralose, EZ sweets and Stevia taste artificial. EM is great, but it doesn't have that sweet candy taste, at least to me.

So why not sugar? I think I could make a sugar solution in PG and use that to sweeten some concoctions.

The obvious why not that comes to mind is that it would kill and atty. Burnt sugar would be a pain, but since making my own coil and using cotton wicks, changing a wick daily isn't a problem for me.

The next question is safety. Is there a reason we shouldn't be inhaling vapor that contains actual sugar? Has this been studied?

My plan is to make a 10% solution in PG, essentially a PG simple syrup, then add a drop or two and see what happens. That is unless someone tells me that's the worst idea they've ever heard...

If you have an atty for dripping/taste testing, I would try that first.

Yup. Rebuildable dripping atty is up to the task. If it just sucks a quick rinse and re-wick is all that's required to fix it up.

I can't believe no one's tried this. I cannot be the first to have this thought, right?

I'm thinking there was some threads on this a couple of years ago but I can't find them now. It was supposed to be a bad idea, but darn if I can remember why. I think it's because it burns too easy but don't remember exactly. (I hate being old lol) I'm going to keep an eye on this thread to see if someone pops in with some good info.

Anyways, I use em, TFA brown sugar extra, and TFA maple serup or a combination of them. I also use the sweet version of the flavor if posible. (examples: Capella sweet strawberry, TFA double ry4).

EM: I love it but very sparingly as it mutes the flavors if too much is used (at least to my taste buds lol).
TFA brown sugar extra: Love it. Tastes more like a mixture of white and brown sugar that straight brown sugar (again, to my buds at least).
Maple syrup: First make sure you like maple surup lol. Obviously not a general purpose sweetener but works well for a desert vape, and also works when used sparingly and just a hint of maple is ok.

4 drops em, 4 drops bsx, 2 drops ms should take any 10 ml bottle in the right direction lol.

I also use FA torrone to make a pipe mix that's on the sweet side of things. Different and very tasty imo and in my top 10 but behind some of my r4 concoctions.

Also, If you're not doing so already, look into adding a little water and vinegar to your tobacco mixes. Start low (4% water, 1% apple cider vinegar is what I use) and adjust to your own taste.

They put boatloads of brown sugar in cigs. However the heat of the cigarette carmelizes the sugar. None of the attys I use at least get nearly hot enough, and sugar itself is not volatile, although the PG/VG could entrain a little I would guess.

I have tried brown sugar without good results, ditto on TFA Brown Sugar flavor.

TFA Maple Syrup I like OK but as mentioned it definitely adds a distinct taste in addition to sweetness.

I mostly stick with a combination of FlavourArt Caramel which is not too "caramelly" to my tastes at least (because cigs ultimately have a lot of caramel in them even though it is added in the form of brown sugar) and Ethyl Maltol. Between the two you can get pretty sweet (often a little too sweet for me personally).

But I just don't think sugar works very well in these devices ...

Thanks for all the suggestions. Since there don't seem to be any associated health concerns I'm going to try with a 10% sugar solution in PG. I probably wont get around to this till late next week, but I will report my findings when I'm done.

Thanks again, and in the mean time, if anyone has first hand experience with sugar in joose please let us know.

I did it with sweetnlow (of course I did) the same week I tried Mrs. ButterWorths> real lemon juice, lime juice and store bought almond extract. No sugar though. The only thing I remember is All of it was a fail and it really sucks to be out of flavoring. sorry cat, not much help here. Be sitting here eating popcorn till ya get back.

Bad news to report, although I suspect most of you knew it was coming.

I made a 10% solution of pure sugar in PG. Started at 1 drop per 10ml and I couldn't detect anything. Increased by the drop, but I never got anything that resembled sweetness.

Finally, at 8 drops per 10ml I started to get a weird flavor, kinda hard to describe. Still no sweetness, so I took it up to 10 drops and it started to taste like a burning toaster and left a tingly feeling on my tongue.

You all were right, but I guess I had to find out for myself. Odd thing though, my atty coil didn't look any worse for wear. No significant gunk build up, but I guess if I had kept at it, it may have crusted over in time.

Well, back to the drawing board...

Still though, my hats off to ya Columbus! Nothing ventured etc.

Sucralose is wonderful stuff.
