I'll keep an eye out for a new thread started by Hounds with a title something like:
"!!! CRAP !!! I don't believe I just ordered the wrong batteries for my Provari, !!! CRAP AGAIN !!!"

hehehehe! thanks for the replies.... i actually linked to the wrong battery. it's a co-op that i'm going to order from and i have specified that i want them with the nipple. i've been using the AW IMR's only and this will be my first time using anything different. batteries kind of scare me tbh. until i started vaping i never knew they could be so dangerous. oh, i also bought the pila charger from provape, so i think i'm covering all my bases.

moving to a new type of battery just makes me a little nervous and i'm looking for reassurance. thanks again for the replies-- :toast:

AW IMR and CGR panasonic IMR's are the two best batteries on the market and the only ones id use in my Provari . THe cgr's were thought to way outperform the AW's but they are actually pretty equal .

All three are very good batteries, they rank according to mAh rating.
They are pretty much evenly matched otherwise.
I like capacity which is the main reason why all my mods must use 18650s.
So I tend to favor the Panasonics, even though I currently use both.
By the time I need replacements who knows what will be available then.
Thats the thing about electronics, once something is achieved, it automatically opens the door to something even better. Its infinite, it just never ends.

You are correct .Best overall on the provari would be the AW 1600mah imo.The Panasonic is better after 3.5v which isnt as helpful on the provari. All 3 are pretty impressive cells. We are really just nitpicking between them at most.

Not my graphs btw ,just found them searching

This guy is most respected reviewer on CPF. Somehow I always believe in results by independent reviewers.

Here is another graph AW IMR vs cgr18650ch. Panasonic runs clearly better even if you go only to 3.5V.

Very useful link where you can compare many batteries

Battery test-review 18650 comparator

Probably the best battery review web site.

Also, I really don't know why people comparing these batteries to 3.5V ??

It should be go down to 3.2V or 3.3V.

Been a flashlight modder and on CPF for about 6 years. great site.

The test i posted came from a member here on ecf. We werent comparing them to 3.5 just saying that the range where the cgr really shines is after 3.5v which is only a .2-.3v range on the provari. Other then that they are pretty equally compared.

The graph show that for all practical purposes both batteries are evenly matched (within ~.03 volt), until the AW craps out due to its much lower mAh capacity. The AW crashes at ~350 mAh below its rated capacity, and the Panasonic takes a dump at ~380 mAh below it rated capacity. The AW 2000 mAh IMR would make a much better comparison.

And just FYI, they are slightly longer than the AW's. I needed to pull out my spring in order to get the AW's to fire after using these. I purchased five of them so now I have $40 worth of batteries sitting OUT of rotation. I guess they'll come in handy if I run out of everything else (highly unlikely). If so though, I'll be smart enough to order a couple of replacement springs.

Knowledge is good. The only remaining question is whether or not it's worth $40.

Livin', learnin', never enough lovin'.

Yeah, the Panasonics are 1 mm longer.
I switch between the AWs and the Panasonics every other battery change and have had no spring problems. Two of each in rotation.
The Panasonics are just held a little more snuggly then the AWs which I like.
The AWs seem to be a little on the short side and move a little more easily inside the Provari tube.
