Hey guys. I really need a suggestion for a mod that does not have a reputation for breaking. I've been been vaping two years and have been through the starter stuff, cheaper box mods, gripper, and recently I said okay I'm tired of these things breaking I'm gonna get something big and sturdy. Got the iTaste SVD, 3 weeks later it's giving me problems. I've asked around in other threads about it, can't come to any conclusion on how to fix it. I've replaced the o-ring, and it's still doing this stupid red light 0.0ohm reading, or other random low ohm readings and not firing. It will work randomly during the day but most of the time it doesn't. And I've tried everything as far as cartos, tanks, batteries etc. It's very frustrating as it is pretty much brand new. Considering no one has a solution for this, can someone give me a suggestion on what to get next? I really liked the SVD but now I am quite angry at it.

The other route is to go mechanical. Buy a decent one and it's pretty much fail proof. Opens the door for lower ohm RBA's and RDA's if you've thought about going that route. Wrapping your own stuff to work on a vv/vw device can be tricky as it's easier to go low ohms but I think it's definitely worth it to go rebuildable. Once you get it figured out you could really vape forever on $15 bucks plus juice and batteries. Of course that would require that you didn't get sick with the pokeatty bug. GOTTA' BUY 'EM ALL!!!!

Currently I think those are pretty much gonna be your two options: mech or Provari. I did luck into a DNA20 mod (Hana Modz) in a raffle but they retail for quite a bit and it absolutely bugs me the remove the two philips head screws to charge the battery. Their charging port only pushed 0.5A at the battery so it takes forever...

I kinda got off on a tangent but yeah, I got a Provari after breaking countless Chinese mods, I ended up selling it after a couple months but I never had a single issue with it and seemed very well built. Just that I didn't care for VV. I've had a Poldiac for about 7 months or more (?) and I've been super happy with it. You might also consider David's Simplicity line from Super-T, I can't say enough about my ELA and kick myself for trading my P+18350. I think Super-T is probably the top US manufacture for mech mods. Just my opinion though, any well built mech will carry you for quite a while...

I wish I could justify dropping that money on a Provari. Maybe with my xmas bonus...I'll look around at some of these other suggestions thanks so much. Let me ask you guys, before I toss this SVD forever, is there somewhere on this forum I could offer someone a few bucks to send them my SVD and see if they can repair it? Any mod handymen? The thing is a paperweight right now.

Sounds like the 510 connector is shot. I'm sure this has already been suggested but you might try a 510 to 510 adapter, after that about the only thing you can do is gut the SVD and use the chip-set along with a modders 510 and battery mount to Frankenstein a box mod. Easier said then done. Same thing happened to my v2 vamo, that was the final straw for me. Well, that's a bummer dude.

You can justify dropping the money but not having to replace a chinese mod every couple of months. The SVD kits sell for like $100. A Provari isnt much more considering you already have batteries and a charger.

It pays for itself when you've owned for a while and havent had three new ones along the way. And its not THAT MUCH more then the nicer chinese mods like the SVD and the Zmaxs.

    Fancy?

Tough, yes. Reliable, yes. Astoundingly accurate, yes. Simple and elegant, yes.

Fancy, never occurred to me to describe it as such....interesting. I suppose it is what we all see it as. Funny.

I looked at your recommended BuzzPro, which is a nice looking simple VV mod. A bit pricey for an "entry mod", but maybe a good second one. If it has held up for two years, I am impressed!

If you want regulated, I vote Provari.

I don't use mine much anymore, but I carried it daily for months. I've dropped it on concrete. I've flown internaltionally. Thrown it in bags. My fiance has knocked it off tables and broken more tanks than I can count.

It wears its scratches with pride and still vapes great. The closest thing to a problem I've had with it is that I'm really bad about cleaning it and I've had to scrape gunk off the battery contacts before...months of battery handling with no thought can apparently do that.

Have you tried contacting iTaste about the SVD by chance? I have one myself and I've never had any issues from it; it's actually one of the best mods I've tried, own and tested before committing to buying it. While 3 weeks is outside most B&M's warranty period (15 days at my local shop), you may luck up by going direct and seeing if they can do something about it.

I'd be a little upset if I dropped $100 on the SVD and it only lasted 3 weeks. Unless you were just going crazy with it and trying to force it to run sub-ohm coils constantly, or there were a ton of shorts occurring from a coil rebuild that just force the device to collapse or short internally. Not saying you were, but some people do crazy things and don't pay attention to what they're doing :).

Brand new Provari 2.0 (full 1 year warranty) in Provape clearance for $150. One of the few mods made that after the warranty you can still get it fixed by the manufacturer for very reasonable cost.

Try that with your Vamo, SVD, VMax, ZMax, Segelei, Evic, yaddy yaddy yaddy, etc. Chinese manufacturer's motto: "We build cheap. You buy cheap. It break, you buy another. :D"

All I was doing was using punched LR carto's in a tank on the SVD. I've tried the protank and a bunch of other stuff but I just love the taste of regular cartos. The guy at the shop was trying to tell me that the SVD didn't like the cartos because the protank was working with it at the time, and not the cartos. But then the protank started doing the same thing. It'll work for like 15 mins, then stop. Then I'll pick it up an hour later and it'll work for 15 mins again, etc etc. I guess I'll contact iTaste and see if they can tell me anything. In the meantime if you guys know of anyone who specializes in repairing these kind of things I'd gladly pay some money to have it fixed up.
