right - I've found the reason, and it is a bit too technical for me to deal with. I will get our server chap to sort it out asap.

Sorry about this.

Good luck! It's been this way at least since I joined in June ... and it is a limitation of other forums (non-vaping) that I've searched. It's probably built into the basic software template.

But if it can be adjusted, great! From the initials of this vaping forum through virtually* any model number to TH, PG, VG, etc. ... our world is filled with 2- and 3-character terms.

* RN had the good sense to use 4-digit model numbers.;) And KR808D-1 is no problem at all.

The work-around is, as has already been suggested, that tiny watermarked Google Custom Search box in the lower left of most ECF pages.

In linguistics, we call them TLAs: three-letter acronyms. While not unique to the 20th and 21st century, they've certainly become increasingly prolific, especially as everything becomes digital.

I, the dilettante dabbler, hereby bequeath the "Why can't the [Americans] learn to speak?!" thread to the professional linguist, jdg4627!

Revive it and free us all from the degradation of the English language as it is practiced in Internet forums. I shall go on and embrace the cause of civility within the world of vaping and beyond.

Attested this final day of the year 2009 Anno Domini,

Don, First Vape of DaBoom

You've fulfilled what was a dream of mine for a long time: to be called a professional linguist.
Unfortunately, I cannot claim to be a professional anything at the moment. I have, however, studied under a preeminent general semanticist and composition error analyst, and I will be happy to lend my services to improve the comprehensibility of this board.
One word, everyone: punctuation.

Any update on this?

Hey, sorry about the delay - we found that there is a tech issue with the character search and we need to have it lowered by our tech guy. He'll do it shortly.

However, we won't be able to reduce the search limit to 2 characters - it will be too server intensive.

Instead, we can include a list of commonly used 2 and 3 letter terms to include in the search database. When the time comes, I will start a thread with the ones included and will add any more that are suggested.

Take care,

SJ

[emphases mine]

Sounds like an optimum solution!
